@dancingsea Thanks for doing great detective work solving the puzzle. So now the question is whether the current model with magnetic rings and other changes in cable actually yield to better sound than original version. Hopefully so…

It’s too bad the Matrix USB cable cannot be had in a shorter length.
Arthur says it’s an improved version. I’m hoping it has more body than my Curious Cable.
If you are looking for a cable with more “body” you might want to look into the Triode Wire Lab USB cables. They come in a “split” and standard version. I have the Discrete (standard version) and it has the body you might be looking for. Pete will let you try them for 30 days. Another cable similar and lower priced is the Oyaide Neo.

I looked out Triode Wire product page and at least their own characterizing of the usb cable sounds like what I hear on Matrix cable : Designed for all digital and Class D devices, it produces the most natural, organic balanced analogue-like reproduction with perfect PRAT! -Sure every manufacturer thinks their product is the best.
@dancingsea If you are not happy with Matrix usb ( unlikely ) why not try what @dawkinsj suggests. With 30 days trial you are safe.
Or go with WW Platinum,seems to be everyones favorite who tried it. Choices choices…

I have to admit, that I’m convinced cables make a difference, but not convinced that USB cables need to cost a fortune, and the WWPS7 at about $1000, would qualify as “a fortune”. The description by you and @Narbooty (along with a nod of support from our resident Matrix Godfather @bootzilla) is just what I’m looking for, and at $99, and with Arthur’s recommendation, I’m hoping the new and improved Matrix USB will represent an amazing value.
I also enjoy watching a Matrix shipment make its way across the globe. Left Xian, China on Monday and is in Anchorage, Alaska today. I’m guessing it will continue on to the USA via Uzbekistan or something

Speaking of the devil, I just noticed Arthur sells the cable on Amazon and seemingly comes with Amazon’s 30 day return policy. Wish I had ordered it there.
How did the Matrix usb compared to your Maxwell?
I haven’t had time to swap it out and give a listen. There has been lots of non musical stuff going on here lately. Maybe this weekend. I’ll give a report when I do the test.
