Chord's Newest VS. The PS Audio DS DAC

For the record I have heard this same annoying buzz in a couple of configurations, most notably in DS > BHK > Focal Utopias. It’s bad enough that even when I reach over to adjust the volume by hand I have to use the ‘Dim’ button on the remote so I’m not listening to the buzz through the headphones.

Well having been at comparisons with all those DAC’s and the M-Scaler (I own a DS, Chord TT2, and M-Scaler) except the DCS and Dave I prefer the Chord with M-Scaler. But the comparison results were far from unanimous. Some didn’t like the M-Scaler, some loved it, some thought the Chord and DS were on par, and I think one preferred the DS. As always listen for yourself.

What I will mention is the Chord outputs 18W directly - perfect for sensitive speakers - no amp required. All agreed with that feature and sensitive speakers the Chord was no brainer. In fact anyone that asks my advice is assembling a system these days I say get a Chord TT2 and buy speakers you like best with the TT2. As I said it really is a no brainer. Even if its a desktop system for personal use its what I would use.

Thanks
Bill
