Connecting Cassette Deck to PS Audio BHK Preamp

Hi there! Im new to this hobby. My current setup is MC275, PS Audio BHK Pre-amp and a cambridge streamer. I just got a vintage Teac V-9 cassette deck. I like it because of the meter lights.

My question is —- i will use the cassette deck from time to time. But my main player will be the streamer. I just want the meter lights in the teac v-9 to glow even while im playing the streamer. How do i do this without any damage to the system or incurring sonic penalty.

Chatgpt suggests to connect the cassette deck to the rca output of the preamp, is this correct?

You can do that and the input recording meters should move around (if that’s what you want) and you should be fine.

You very well might have a sonic degradation. In the past, I had connected an equalizer to an audio out just to see the spectrum analyzer light up, and sure enough, the sound degraded even though it was not in the signal path. You can try connecting your tape deck and seeing for yourself if the sound degrades. It just might.
