Coronavirus noticeboard

My hope is we are overreacting. This would mean it worked.

I was somewhat alert during the 2010 swine flu period, where almost 13,000 people died in the US alone and I don’t remember this level of panic.

I currently have an interesting (if Uber First World) quandary. Some of you will recall that I ran over myself with my own car in December. (I know…don’t StartšŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø. Still in the process of suing myself - the lawyers are having a field day)

Got minor clots in my knee, which is to be expected. In the typical overabundance of medical caution, I was put on Xarelto, a blood thinner, for three months.

So - I should be going off this miserable stuff soon. It is supposed to involve a trip to the Dr. for a blood test, and then instruction/meds to wean off the drug (massive risks doing so, natch). The hematologist’s practice is located in the Cancer Center next to the Hospital.

The Selfish View: Is it REALLY necessary for me to go there and mingle with an office full of immunocompromised cancer patients? BUT the other side of that is - I could be an asymptomatic carrier, waltz in there and wipe out a bunch of people inadvertently for no good reason.

This is not paranoia, simply common sense. I’ll be interested to hear what their thoughts are, assuming they have nothing better to do.:cowboy_hat_face:

We had adequate reserves of toilet paper then.

The United States is not included in the photo - but they are comparable to Sweden

The German researcher from Kiel in Germany published his research on the major American magazines shortly. It looks promising, however, the approval of human use will take time.

More love Michael

Both decisions are correct IMHO.

In Denmark we are so rich that we use banknotes

So its a win-win?

I don’t think the whole population of the earth is going to stay home for 3 weeks to outlast the bug and those blood thinners are trying to kill you in a different way. First things first.

Further irony (if that’s the word) or coincidence - just got an email from my Provider.

I have had what I would call ā€œregular sort of winter cold symptomsā€ off and on for months.

Phoenix Symphony just cancelled the Disney Tribute Concert (don’t laugh, my Wife’s a Disney Nut). I was actually looking forward to it because I haven’t been to a Symphony Hall of any kind in so many years. They are not re-scheduling that particular event but they do have other stuff (Beethoven, Shostakovich, and some others) later in the year. I have to find a program that we’re both musically familiar with.

@badbeef, I have been taking Xarelto for years, ever since a couple of teensy pulmonary embolisms which seemed to induce a high level of panic in the medical profession. I have found it one of the less troublesome anticoagulants. Warfarin is tiresome with the constant monitoring required. Enoxaparin has to be injected daily into your belly fat, and it really stings, but on the plus side my wife felt so sorry for me that she kept a bag of little presents to reward me for being a good boy. Did I find this demeaning? In the conflict between dignity and bottles of craft beer dignity was an easy loser. Unless you are paying good music money for it I would not be in any hurry to come off the drug. Of course, here in the commie UK we have social medicine and in most cases pay nothing for medications.

This is the point I’m making. ā€œMe Firstā€ is how this gets worse. Me elbowing in there because I’m more concerned for myself than others could in fact circle around and kill me.

I think I should be able to save myself and the Cancer Center the risk by passing on the visit and test and getting whatever instruction/prescription I need online or by phone.

If everyone did in fact stay home for three weeks, it would likely have a major impact on halting the progress. Just because everyone else will do what’s best for them doesn’t mean I should.

In this case, staying home would be a win-win for me though. Not trying to make out like I’m some sort of altruist, sacrificing myself for othersšŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

I’ll PM you.

You should seriously investigate a seat kill switch like on a riding mower or a lanyard type like on my off shore boat. I am sure there has to be a great story for your experience. Perhaps Autobiography Novel or Short Story. Title it. 99 percent black and blue?

Denmark a moment ago, all Danish citizens there on holiday abroad (ca100.000) asked to go home immediately.

Haha. Freakishly little bruising actually. And certainly nothing novel-worthy. The moral of the story: Don’t Run Over Yourself.

The How-To on that: Do Not Attempt to Operate a Vehicle from Outside the Vehicle.:cowboy_hat_face:

That’s about half the Brentford football team and Leicester’s goalie, Kaspar Scheichel.
