Daniel Hertz Audio

Folks, there is nothing new or special about settings in DSP for EQ or reverb time. On pages 11~13 on the patent application, shows the timeframe and EQ curves utilized to support their claims of “biometric” improvements to health. (this is the basis of the patent)

The very same tricks with reverb was utilized by many, around in the 70’s, who remember spring reverbs inserted into the signal chain. Or those who prefer tubes due to the microphonic reverb properties the tubes themselves make when excited. Nothing new here folks… Just the spin…

My read as well.

I additionally wonder how the supposed invention is expected to work when the original source has likely been EQ’d already as well as possessing at least some reverb, be it natural or added.

Good questions

I would suggest anyone who’s curious about the applications being applied here, to have a listen, perhaps at the next show, or at a dealership. That’s my plan. I was going to trial one at home, but the dealership didn’t offer a trial period, and I’m not willing to roll the dice on that kind of coin.

I expect the Maria sounds great.

The patent however makes no claim of improved sound, but rather a health benefit with no claim the listener can detect any benefit.

This is not something any of us can discern in a home trial, show trial or otherwise.

I record many symphony orchestras, choral groups, chamber groups, etc. each year. I am pleased to learn that when I add a little bit of EQ and/or reverb that this is conferring health benefits upon listeners to my recordings.

I dunno…

My current system configuration sure is good for my well being.

Excellent!

If it is a “use patent” then it is simply a “new use” for an existing technology and will be issued with those parameters in mind. Use patents still protect the applicant but all expenses for defense are also borne by the applicant / receiver if it is granted.

It is very expensive for an individual just to get the patent applied for let alone granted. The procedure is complicated and exacting just to correctly file and legal help is best used adding to the application process as already mentioned.

The bigger innovation companies spend millions or 10’s of millions of dollars either defending or researching possible violations of their patents.

True

“This is not something any of us can discern in a home trial, show trial or otherwise.”

That’s not the reason I suggested people should listen. Only one reason, to determine the level of sound quality. That for me at least is
the most important consideration.

How does the ol’ saying go, “don’t become so broad-minded that you become flat-headed…”

I’m sorry but it takes quite a bit more than “millions” to create a custom SoC. This is pure marketing.

I’m a noob who recently made the jump from decent Hi-Fi to legit high-end audio. I had a modest budget of $15-20K to play with, but was honestly a bit shocked to see just how quickly it could get gobbled up going the separate components route and the number of compromises necessary in order to put a system together and stay within budget. Then Daniel Hertz showed up with the Maria 50/Eva speakers combo and totally grabbed my attention. Levinson’s name carries a lot of weight (at least for me) and what he was promoting with the Maria caused me to completely rethink what’s possible with the new generation of integrated amps.

I spent quite a bit of time at Axpona this year auditioning various offerings from my short list of manufacturers, plus encountered quite a number of surprises. Unfortunately Daniel Hertz was not represented so no-go on listening to that setup. One of the surprises, however, was getting the chance to have a one-on-one with Paul McGowan at the PS Audio booth. The question I posed to him was “I’m thinking about a setup like the Stellar 700s, Preamp, DAC, Phono and FR5”. His immediate response was “Why do that when you can do the FR10s and Stellar Strata MK2?” At first I was surprised but as I thought about it, it made more and more sense - make your speakers the foundation and pair them with a simpatico amp or components.

I give credit to Daniel Hertz for forcing me to rethink a lot of things and wake up to the changes in technology and what’s being done with integrated solutions - they are not anything like what they used to be. As a result the FR10 Strata MK2 combo are making magic in my home right now and I couldn’t be happier.
