Hi there…Twoo weeks are today, but,no bigger improvement in sound with Edcor XS 4400’s…You did said over twoo weeks, how much exactly is that, three weeks?

Something is wrong - the XS4400’s should sound pretty good initially and just get better. They should never sound worse that the older transformers burn-in or not. Inspect the workmanship carefully. Without more information I don’t have a guess as to what went wrong.

I personally heard steady improvement over two to three weeks. There were evenings when I sat down and was amazed at how good the DS was sounding. I am listening to it right now and couldn’t be happier. Rickie Lee Jones is singing her heart out!

Okay,then,burn-in is not yet finished…The sound is good, but,it is not as good,as for few thousand bucks…Will wait for burn-in to be completed…What kind of difference was at the start and at the end in sound, was there like ooh better?

In my case, it feels/sounds like having new ears.

How much did you waiting for burn-in?

I have 30euros digital cable by Kimber-V20,retail 85eur…Perhaps i need better cable, which is not yet burn-in,also power cable is new too,so,will need three burn-in’s…

Had them for 4 weeks, but results showed earlier. I hear real improvements mainly clean mellifluous lower end and palpable spatial music representation.

So,in any way, some three weeks is minimum for that…It need’s time for burn-in…

Do you have directly to amp,or you use preamplifier for DAC? Is it better with preamplifier?

Here’s my setup: DS DAC > BHK Preamp > Meridian 857 ref. power
It’s worth noting that I use P15 power regen. and that the DS DAC is plugged into a high current outlet because that is how it sounds best!

And how much volume do you have? Nice setup…

Thank you. DS is set to 94, sometimes 92. BHK pre could be anything between 28 and 45. Even at 28, sound quality is quite impressive in terms of weight, transparency and dimensionality. No subwoofers, no DSP in the setup.

Okay, thank you…So,without preamplifier, the sound is not as good, how is directly to amp, compared to preamplifier?

I’ve always used a preamp because my phono pre needs one. I never tried connecting a dac or a CD player direct to power amp!
