Do You Have a Turntable?

That is so very sexy! Audio Porn at it’s best!

Another Delphi V! Mine is equipped with the Turbo PS, SME V tonearm, Benz LP-S, and BDR record clamp.

Excellent rig! Looks like we have a community SME tonearm fan club going on the thread. I use a 309 on my SOTA.

I’m still mystified by SMEs decision to drop out of the tonearm market. They’ll continue to bundle their tonearms with TTs, though. SMEs press release back in December provided no hint. Did they decide the brisk tonearm market was taking focus off their decks? Sure seems like an extreme reaction. I do hope they honor their pledge to back us with parts and service.

I have two Micro Seiki BL-51’s (OK one is for spare parts) an upgraded VPI Jr with Grace 727, and a bryston BLP1 (essentially a Gold note with Bryston electronics.) The bryston is in my “main” system. i find I use it quite a lot.

…or you actually secretly DJ at a hip and happenin’ night spot?

Nah but Micro Seiki has been closed for like 35 years so it seemed like a good idea

Hi Groovysauce
(Assumimg that’s not your ‘given’ name :slightly_smiling_face:)

The Orea Graphites made the turntable seem more ‘solid’, in same way that Reel to Reel mastertape has that feeling of hearing something played before you in real time.

That’s my main takeaway.

Hifi superlative wise (and less important imo) is that the soundstage opens up so much more, but converse to that, each individual instrument takes on a stronger voice.

Things like the ‘rasp’ of a trumpet on your favourite Miles Davis album, the grit of the air moving as a cellist swipes the bow across strings…
Or even a badly scratched 30yr old LP Sounding more “like the original artist intended”…whatever that means…

All go to show the Turntable simply puts a life size, believable living breathing what was recorded at the time reproduction of what’s on the record.

The ISO feet add more of that.

Thank you. I was unaware that they made an orea graphite.

I guess my wallet is going to be lightened.

This is the 1998 Linn 12 Sondek, w Linn ITTOK LVII tone arm and lots of other mechanical upgrades. The PS is Lingo III. Lyra Skala MC cart.
Sitting on a PS Power Base. After owning Garrard,Denon , Rega, Thorens, VPI, this Linn 12 really staying w/Me. Great TT. Very specific to type of cartridges to use with this tonearm.Linn (002)

Nice Tavish Audio Adagio I used to have one very good tube phono pre

Here is a nice shot of my Dr Feickert Blackbird with Thales Simplicity II tonearm on the right with an Lyra Delos at the time I now have a Ortofom MC A95 on it now. The Clearaudio TT5 I never got set up and I am selling it now I put a Jelco 850M at that spot now.
I thought this photo was cool soundtrack from the limited series Vinyl, it was a cool show I wish it continued.

I noticed several Rega TT owners listed here. One of the single best “bang for the buck” improvements I made was to install a Rega wall shelf. This provided really excellent isolation for around $250. You can jump up and down on my typical suspended wood floor and not hear a thing from the table.

My table above is on a Target wall shelf highly recommended

Assuming you have suspended floors in the room your turntable is racked in, a suitable wall shelf mounted to a load bearing wall is almost always going to be preferable.

From my experience, the IsoAcoustics are absolutely the Dictionary Definition of a “no brainer”.
Wonderful improvement, spent far more in the past for less improvement

Agree with the wall shelf thing…
But as always in the analogue game, it depends?

Outcome differs on wether you have a suspended wooden floor or stone .
Pondered about this very thing and asked on Rega specific forums n such and general answer from Rega Peeps came back as “stone floor…your ok as is”.

That the new Aphelion 2?
Congrats!

What did you have before?

The Aphelion replaced an Apheta 2 that was acting up. Turned out to have some gunk on the stylus that was very difficult to remove, but I at least got $500 in trade on the new cart. Great synergy with Rega carts and TTs IMO. If you’re looking I found mine at The Sound Organisation in TX, USA.
