Everything has a beginning, as well as an end

Sadly, this is the way of most practical wisdom. The experts die and few are available/able/willing to stand on the shoulders of giants to carry the flame forward.

I am doing the best I can do for you guys.

You can’t teach this stuff. It comes from a thousands direction at once inside you skull. Your experiences and knowledge base have to sort it all out into an usable thread. Your inner compass sets the path for each attributes weight. Most is derived from repeated mistakes to assess what’s doing the lifting and what’s just “marketing”. The journey won’t be simple.

Most that are under training to be an inventor or green field idea person quit. That’s easy to understand too. The task to invent something that doesn’t exist except as an ember in someone else’s head is an impossible task to “email” into another head. You have the drive, desire and audible goal in your head from the start. Hang on to that until the end! Direction coms from life itself, ALL OF LIFE and not just at your desktop. You see a solution in everything. So many things to try.

I was told to train someone to do my job. I asked my boss after 35 years why I’m the sole green field engineer we have? Because no one else has the drive to do what seems impossible. Until that person arrives
they won’t need me. This kind of person trains himself. They lead a lonley and difficult job of making what people might want, make it work, make it manufacturable and make it cheap enough. Over and over. Still, the drive to succeed overwhelms the difficulties. YOU, and no one else, can get it done. A singular path only you can imagine until it works.

Of course, all of this is “obvious” after all the paths to the top of the mountain are discovered and is dismissed until the right one is achieved. The difficulty of the job is undiscoverable by the “team”. Only you know the path taken and how hard it was. Then team sees the next idea, they don’t create it, or just the end when the top of the mountain looks the same in all directions. Then, the imagination and drive to the top is not needed and off to another problem this isolated and inquisitive person shall go. And, he went.
