Thinking of purchasing a pair of Focal Scala Evo speakers. Does anyone have any experience with these speakers when matched with the BHK preamp and BHK 300 monoblocks?
Any thoughts on this combination?

I have the 300’s with Sopra 2. I love the combo. The BHK Pre I think there are better choices. Its not the quietest out there. I ended up with ARC LS28 SE. I know the BHK is quite cheaper now that the PMG is out.
what speaker cables are you using?
Cardas clear cygnus speaker cable. I tried silver…no way, not with those tweeters.
i have at my house Cardas Quadlink 5-c speaker cables and Audioquest Indigo Speaker cables.
Any thoughts on these for the Scalas?
I am a fan of Cardas, but I have not had any experience with that model
what about your interconnects between your preamp and the BHK 300s
What are you using for them, and are they as critical as the speaker cable?
If you had to choose between the B&W 802D1 or the FOCAL UTOPIA SCALA EVO, which would you choose and why?
I am not a fan of B&W but I have not listened to them in like a decade. So that could have changed.
I have found that the b&W 802d1 are bright, harsh, especially in the upper midrange. I’ve changed out electronics and cables and eventually realize that the problem still exists.
I’m considering moving on to the Focal Utopia Scala Evo speakers.
Review on these speakers say that they are equally as bright, yet I didn’t get that sense auditioning in two stores on very expensive electronics.
Please, what are your thoughts….
Many find focal bright and harsh. My room is well treated and I find tubes warm them up. I love the balance of the tubes with focal. But some hear cannot be in same room. You need to see if you can try at home. Maybe doors 1 or Kanta 1. Easily moved.
I hear that from others as well, dunno what it is but i find my 802D1’s bright, thin and grating no matter what gear. I’ve auditioned the 802D3’s when they were out, and felt the same.
I’m just not getting that with the Focal’s, but I’m worried that I will once I purchase them
Understand. Matching the right equipment is essential as with most brands. Stay away from silver and try amputee tube preamp. Or maybe one of those ARC integrated amps. They are super efficient and do not need a ton.
I have a BHK preamp, with BHK 300 monoblocks
would you recommend Cardas Quadlink 5-6, or Audioquest Indigo speaker cables?
I like Cardas myself
my dealer says i should really purchase the IsoAcoustics BAIA I Neo Isolation Feet for my speakers… that the difference is very noticeable, any thoughts on this for the Focal scala evo speakers?
I have the GIA. Not the new NEO version. People here say the STACK audio version is much better. go with them.
have you seen any difference with any isolation feet? how so?
I did think they tightened the bass up a bit. Light investment for the improvment.
