For Qobuz users

Thanks @Vmax!

Multichannel is of interest to me and my HT, which is separate from my 2-channel entirely.

Unfortunately, my current method requires AirPlay, which converts multichannel to 2-channel. AirPlay is the hold-up, but unless there are things I want to hear in a true multichannel way, I won’t bother figuring out the tiny problem.

I’ve found some classical in 5.1, but very few others. It’s only of interest and I know the 5.1 format isn’t currently taken seriously in music appreciation. I have Blu-ray 5.1 of the big Yes albums, and that’s pretty cool.

Yes i have about 8 or 9 BluRays. Most of the plain jane 5.1s are mixed compared to a modded DS DAC in 2 Channel. The HD DTS versions all knock it out of the park with a MX150 processor. Streamed 5.1 movies from apple TV and a hifi HDMI cable are really good. I do not use center channel or subs since my line array speakers really do phantom center and bass very very very well. The up mix modes for two channel in NEO 6 format feels like a dance club and is good for parties. But can’t touch 2 Chsnnel or HD-DTS for critical listening.

Sneak peak at the new upcoming artist page on Qobuz. It was posted on Reddit.

Not sure if this the right place for this or if it was posted somewhere else and I haven’t read it but … Qobuz sent me, and presumably all users, an e-mail this morning indicating they are updating General Terms and Conditions. Here’s the most interesting thing to me:

• Clarification of offer names: we have removed several streaming subscription offers.
The subscribers concerned have been migrated to one of theoffers currently available on our site.

  • Studio Premier ➔ Studio Solo
  • Hi-Fi ➔ Studio Solo
  • Sublime Hi-Fi ➔ Sublime Solo
  • Studio Sublime ➔ Sublime Solo

I was always wondering what level I had since my account just said “Studio”, I pay $12.99/month. Apparently it is “Studio Premier Solo“, soon to be “Studio Solo”. No indication there is a price change but I’m not counting on it. I also hope they don’t decrease the current max resolution of 24/192.

Of interest to Canada and Japan they will now offer service there. I seem to recall a discussion several weeks (months?) ago on Canada service, so maybe not “news”?

Thanks for sharing, I did receive the notification but have yet to read it. Honestly can’t say what level I was at initially, but now I’m Studio. Happy with the service, but it may be time for me to review their service tiers.

EDIT:
From the Qobuz site, sublime adds to the Studio subscription in the following way:

Sublime gives you access to our entire catalog of Hi-Res and CD quality albums, all available for streaming and download purchase with exclusive discounts up to 60%

Qobuz Playlist : Dutch Audio Event 2023

Link isn’t working, and a Qobuz search gained zero hits.

@weedeewop please try this link below

“Playlist Dutch Audio Event 2023 - Streaming Hi-Res - Qobuz”

I am sad. I try to find that with Roon and it doesn’t show up.
When I login to Qobuz in a browser it doesn’t let me see that playlist.
Bah.

I went through all the trouble to make a playlist locally. Yikes.

Update: I am up to the Tool song. This is a sweet sweet playlist. Some surprises!
BACCH worthy.

odd, it does not show up on my Qobuz searches

From my search attempts, it requires a European or possibly French Qobuz subscription.

makes sense. I get the 2022 play list but not 2023

Same (I seem to have a weakness for playlists). I couldn’t find the Luca or Nina Simone tracks. Did you have any better luck?

The Nina Simone track was not found. I searched every way I could. I believe I found the Luca track though.

Qobuz quit on me tonight. Stopped streaming, Qobuz.com is not responding. This makes me very, very sad. I guess it’s vinyl time.

Ooops, it’s back! Whew!

Not Qobuz specific, but general and seemingly random interruptions has me questioning the wisdom of my 100% reliance on streaming.

I get that. I buy a tremendous amount of music. The thought of Qobuz dissappearing frightens me a lot. When I use Roon Radio, and I use it daily, it’s all Qobuz and my local library. I worry about Tidal as well. It’s ten dollars a month, sign up!

One can use Uptime.com to check (and/or subscribe for alerts) if qobuz is down. This only happens very rarely over here in Europe…
