Hi all ! ’
Just purchased new tubes for my BHK.

Only if you’ve been eating fried chicken.
I’ve never used gloves, just make sure your hands are clean.
Great !
Thanks all

When retubing I thoroughly wash my hands to remove any oils. On occasion I have used a tissue or paper towel but not gloves.
I may be wrong but I always thought the gloves were to keep fingerprints and hand oils off the BHK’s black top panel that holds onto fingerprints like fly paper. I’v never seen anything that’s as hard to clean fingerprints off of as that panel’s black paint.
I always use gloves when changing tubes in either the preamp or the amp. Oil on the tube surface can cause hot spots. Always better to be safe than sorry.
I use windex with vinegar to clean the tops. It makes them like new without any negative effects.
Use a micro fiber cloth. Do not spray directly to avoid overspray into the preamp.
“Method All-Purpose Cleaner” is what I’ve found works very well for safe cleaning audio gear exterior finishes of most types. It works better than anything I’ve found for cleaning that hard to clean matte finish on Luxman face plates.
