In my top 10. Vivid memory seeing it at the Embarcadero theaters in San Francisco.

I just upgraded my surround sound system to 9.2.4 and I’m using two new SVS PC-4000 subs. The opening scene for the James Bond “Spectre” is amazing from a sound effects perspective. Using four ceiling speakers to reproduce a helicopter circling above, yeah, makes it worth crawling around my attic for a few hours installing new cable and speakers.

My pre-order of the 4k Gattaca steelbook US import arrived this week. I watched it this evening and it was every bit as good a film as I remembered from my last viewing years ago on DVD. Fantastic story, subject matter, and cinematography. Looks awesome in 4k and while this dialogue driven film doesn’t do anything particularly exciting with the upgraded Atmos mix, it sounds great.

I saw it at the drive-in two years after it came out as a warm up to Serpico. That was one good double feature.

Cronenberg is one of my all time favorite directors.

Almost all of them for me, but specifically:

The Thing
Videodrome
Naked Lunch

i’ve never seen the Naked Lunch but the other three sure are good

Highly recommend, based on the book by William S Burroughs who also did Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas.

It’s almost autobiographical, but set to very disturbing scenes such that only a freak like Chronenberg could make any sense out of it. It’s a real work of art if you can get your head around it.

William S Burroughs wrote Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas?

Indeed. The book is far better than the film

I love the book, but it was written by Hunter S Thompson.
