Gryphon 333 Integrated Amplifier and all other integrated amps

Thought I’d start a thread on what promises to be a superb audio device. I own a Diablo 300 and I’ve owned a Levinson 383 in the past. Curious of what owners and others think of the 333 and other great integrated amps.

I’m enjoying IMMENSELY what is likely my end-game integrated amplifier, the Decware SEWE300B. It has all that I want in an amplifier and is both a brute and a graceful deliverer. Love it!

The 333 is at the top of my list for next upgrade.
Thanks for the video link.
At least it sounded like he could lift the Diablos himself even though he has a sore back from it.

The Diablo 300 is a phenomenal sounding amp, preamp and dac! I am blown away every time I sit down for a listen! I’m absolutely sure the 333 is a hugely wonderful integrated too…

Tracking Angle asked Runes assessment of 333 vs 300.

“Knowing that many current Diablo 300 owners would be interested, I asked Rune what specific sonic areas he felt the 333 improved on over the 300 and in what ways.”

He responded: “This is always a subjective and individual assessment… But we find the Diablo 333 to be better when it comes to dissemination of width and depth of a recording, which reminds of true class A sound. On top of that, the 333 has more headroom, together with improved lower frequency definition.”

Is the Diablo 333 biased sightly higher into Class A than the Diablo 300?

From what I have read…
300 is specified for first 5 to 6 watts in class a…
333 for around the first 8 to10…

Rune is a master of communication and diplomacy. That will always be his standard answer for magazines and interviews. He did tell me at Axpona that it’s substantially better. I also had this confirmed from others on other forums that the 333 is substantially better.

Those people replaced their 300’s with the 333. I’m not surprised I wouldn’t expect Gryphon to release something marginally better, but as you said @mark-d it’s hard to believe that the 333 sounds better than the 300 because the 300 is wonderful! IMO the 300 is an absolute steal at current used market prices.

I’m sure the 333 is better…no doubt! Now I need to find 35k(with dac) for the 333!

I thought it was only $30k with Dac. “Only”

thought the video said 24,000 Euros. which is about 26k. They did not say what the DAC option cost but the TT module was 7000 Euros I think he said.

30k does sound about right for DAC version from what I read earlier.

Terry Ellis, who did the review above is in the UK, so the price quoted would be pounds sterling.

Audio Vision in SF has a list of $31,900 with dac option…Hmm! I just saved $3,100.00…

My GF told me that 3 chassis for my line stage and two chassis for phono stage and monoblocks are silly and I should replace them all with an integrated amp.
So I did the right thing and returned the last of her stuff to her this morning.

I’m trading in my first gen unit for the new gen 2. Gen 1 sounds wonderful and meets all my needs but has several ‘rough edges’ (software glitches specifically) that have irritated me.

I’m most pleased with my integrated. That said I have a set-up that takes on the multi-box approach as well. WE enjoy both immensely.

@ronp I believe you said you know someone with a Diablo 333?

Mine is a 5 box approach. Spinner, dac/streamer, pre, crossover, amp, plus 2 speakers and a sub. Am happy.
