Just curious if the new DAC surpassed the former flagship DAC?

I am looking for the same info. Completely unsure right now between Stellar series and the Directstream. Hoping the enlightened seniors can guide.

Well, they are different. DirectStream overall better, IMHO, but let’s discuss why. DS is much more romantic and spatial sounding while StellarGold is extraordinary in terms of openness, depth and layering of the image.
So, when it comes to choosing one over the other, you reallly need to think in terms of synergy with your system as well as your likes and dislikes. For me, personally, before the PMG DAC came my way, DirectStream was definetly my DAC of choice for the reasons I just wrote about., Hope that helps.
