Holo Audio: one of the best dacs ever? J Atkinson, H Reichert, S Deckert, M Lavorgna, GoldenSound, D Abramson and the Stereophile reviewers think so. Stereophile A+ and POY 2020

The thing I would say to the people that are put off by lessthan immediate response from Tim. There prices are certainly lower than competive products for companies with full service. You can’t have it both ways. Would you be willing to pay an extra 10% to get faster reponse? In my case I have owned the SU-1 and the Spring 3 KTE with Preamp. In both cases I never suffered unduly from having to wait for a response.
Once you get the unit installed and broken in it is quite rare that you would ever have to communicate with Tim again.
When I sold my Spring 3 Tim responded in a reasonable time frame to my request to transfer the warranty to a fellow in Toronto.

This all happened seamlessly.

As the saying goes pick your poison

Lol I’m still here. Just haven’t logged in a while, working way too much. Looks like I have some catching up to do on this thread but yes I worked with Kitsune support. They were great, even though I wasn’t really having an issue with the May

Tom @twablt : any news about your Serene? You are the only owner of this new preamp active on this forum, so please give us an update when you listen to it.

What about your scientific ab testing ds and Holo ? Any interesting observations for the hi fi family ?

No I haven’t. It should be a really simple test I just need to either look for somewhere in those boxes of cables or buy an rca splitter, so that I can use the same output from my streamer. The auralic will only allow you to use usb or any of the other digital outputs but not both simultaneously. Switching between both DACs at the preamp is easy since the Trinnov has multiple balanced inputs and it allows me to individually set the volume on each one so that I can level match them.

Hey EGH, do you have a Holo?

Not yet, but it’s on the short list.

A new review by GoldenSound.

He has an Audio Precision APX555. Wow :hushed: ! Probably on loan, but still very impressive. Even some audio developers don’t have one.

In other news, I just brought back home a loaner Innuos Phœnix Net, to compare to the Melco S100.
I plugged it in a couple of hours ago.
Same price here for both of them.

OMG :scream:

That bad,huh?

The English electric made my system sound worse.
The SOtM was neutral.
The Melco made it sound slightly slightly slightly better.

The Innuos is an eargasm. It’s so immediately obvious, it’s like upgrading a component.

Until now, I thought a switch was a waste of money.
No more.

GoldenSound actually bought the APX555.

Wow that’s 30 000 $.

Ted probably has one. I don’t see how you can design a dac without that essential tool.

I’m eventually looking at upgrading my streamer going into my May KTE. I’m currently using a Roon Nucleus with a Teddy Pardo power supply, but am considering a Lumin U1 or Auralic Aries G2.1.

I’m curious if anyone else has experience with either of these, particularly when paired with they May DAC? Any other streamer considerations around this price range is also appreciated.

Lumin U1. Super sweet with the May. Unreal.

GoldenSound is right. Realism. He nailed it once again in his review:

Be well, amigos and enjoy the music.

Listening right now to ABliss on the Innuos May combo.
Wow :open_mouth:
The Plinius sa 103 monoblocks and Tautoro + B&W 800 are loving it

I did try a linear psu with the sotm.
Not worth it in my system.

The Innuos Phoenix is the way to go, IMHO.
