Until you mentioned it I had never thought of it that way, and come to think of it the 45 RPM Black Magic Woman/Hope You’re Feeling Better sent me off to Abraxas and my audio journey as well. It also supported the notion of a less than traditional approach, for its day I might add, of conveying “pop” music. This undoubtedly led to my initial experimentation with jazz.

Sad!
Very young at 50. ![]()
This is so so sad, great snippet here of the quality of drummer he was:
Classical music calms you enough hat your EV will go further on a charge!
I wonder if anyone has measured the current draw of different kinds of music? Asking for some friends

This caught my eye.
Very interesting! No mention of tinnitus though, I have some hearing loss, but tinnitus is a more annoying issue.
Tinnitus can have many causes but it is often the brain inventing signals in place of the missing frequencies from the ear. After those inputs are available again the tinnitus may slowly fade (sometimes it would take years tho.) Like many of us I’d appreciate getting my tinnitus ameliorated perhaps more than hearing things I was missing.
Thanks Ted! I had a hearing test done a couple years ago and they said I had textbook hearing damage from excessive noise. I wasn’t exposed to any persistent noise (e.g., on a daily basis) but certainly had exposure to occasional high noise levels (the poor judgement of youth). My tinnitus is a high pitch whine which I thought could be masking the high frequencies I can’t hear. The brain creating something that is missing certainly could explain my perception of the problem, just not what I expected. I will watch the progress of this trial, maybe there’s hope for the future.
Along the same lines I cant hear anything above 13k so should I DSP everything above my hearing limit out of the playback? Just food for thought.
I would treat the signal a if your hearing is perfect and let your brain sort it out. It also would make the system sound its best for visitors.
I am sure you are correct but having the option I think I am going to make a filter that slopes off steeply at 13k and see if I can tell if anything is missing. My system sounds delightful as is though.
I actually didn’t know that I couldn’t hear above that freq. until I started doing room sweeps with Acourate which does a full spectrum sweep that takes one minute per channel so you have time to look at the freq playing as it goes up. That system sweeps through the freqs slow enough to find out what has audible excitement of various items in the room.
