What footers are people using for their LHY switches? I only have a few inexpensive things lying around, but they seem to help. Cardas myrtle blocks were a good start - better punch and clarity, better bass pitch and tone - but Herbie’s Tenderfeet were kind of mind blowing. Huge bass, way more punch, and the soundstage comes alive with effects to hard left or right pushing way beyond the width of the speakers. It literally sounds like turning it up 1-2dB! Kind of shocking.
I moved Muon Pro from directly out of Router before SW-6 to further downstream right before Lumin U2 from SW-10 in lieu of Fiber - it’s better here in my system. Thanks for the suggestion Donald - I prefer it here and it’s better sounding than the Fiber! Nice box.
That was my experience with Lumin U2, a great ethernet cable/filter was still better than FO in front of the streamer. Enjoy your new setup!
After watching Hans video I put 3 IsoAcoustics Orea Bronze feet (that were no longer in use) under the SW6. While I was at it I put 3 Orea Graphite feet under the Muon Pro (between the SW6 and MU2) - they seemed to help.
Before I buy any more feet I’m going to get a better rack!
Hey dchang05 - I m curious to know if you ever got your Muon Pro? I hope so - I am loving mine - curious to know your first impressions…
I am running Muon Pro/Omega with MU2 four days non-stop (received on Tuesday). It has sounded better every day. By 2nd day it has exceeded the SQ of Stack SmoothLan already. It may be the best ethernet filter on the market right now.
Donald, good to hear that you like muon Pro and that it works well with your Omega. Have fun
Donald - how is it sounding with the Muon?
I have made some major changes in my rack arrangement, and I have received two additional Xangsane grounding boxes yesterday. The system was shut down most of the time yesterday, but today it already sounds better than I ever remembered. So, the improvement from now on could be due to a number of factors instead of from Muon Pro break-in alone. I am very happy about the Muon Pro for sure.
Haha! Sounds like me sometimes I have so many upgrades going and not sure what I’m listening to, but it’s sounding great. My Muon
is nice and burned in and I absolutely love what it’s doing. Good to hear your system is sounding better than ever also!
Any update on this?
Image depth cues are improved slightly along with detail retrieval with the LPS for A8. For the cost, I would say a very worthwhile upgrade. I would suspect a larger difference would be evident with the DAC built into the A8 but I haven’t tried that.
Excellent post! Apparently, PSA doesn’t agree. But I hear it.
These babies do work, I have five of these units. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806445418131.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.18.5b961802FqkfIh&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa
Well, I pulled the trigger on the LHY SW6 and the LHY FMC, along with a 10 MHz clock and the fiber optic bits. I already have the SW8 in my rack, but I am at the point that I am pretty happy with the audio gear and speakers, now it is time to start squeezing out every last bit of detail.
Here is the clock I purchased, the GPS model, link is in the video description. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm4MXcV9E3Y
this video just got published today, he demoed how a cap filter affect the ripple voltage. Very interesting timing!
Gabster! I like him, and his work. And yes, interesting timing. I discovered these capicitor banks a few months ago. I just ordered a couple more along with the LHY ethernet decrapifiers. One thing that Gabster pointed out that I found true, they perform better when stacked with a better power supply. Of course, that is using my ears and those in the household for their impressions. I also have the LHY battery power bank, around $110 on AliExpress, they come in 5v and 12v and really made a positive impact with my streamer. I think more so than the $600 Farad Super 3 LPS I use with the streamer and now added capacitor bank.
Here is the LHY battery power supply, these are nice, you just need to keep an eye on the batteries in regards to keeping them charged. You can leave the charger plugged in and charging while using the unit. It comes to a full charge in around 3 hours give or take. It comes with a 9v wall wart charger, I used one of the ifi iPower2 chargers found on amazon.
Well, I purchased the LHY MHK and the SW6 switch. All I can say is WOW! I already have the LHY SW8, but the addition of these two switches is a true game changer in regards to overall sound quality. This is on another level, and paired with my Roon Nucleus One… Katy bar the door!
I also upgraded my network ethernet cables to the garden hose sized LinkUP 22 awg cables. I also went with RG11 from my cable box to my Motorola B12 Modem and a 1m LinkUP out to the router and more LinkUP cables out to my switches. I bought several of these LinkUP cables, and have them throughout my setup now to feed my streaming devices. I did get a good bump in overall internet speed with these cables. On a good day I may get 290 to 320 mbps on my Comcast account. Now, hitting 370 to 400+ mbps consistently. So, there is something to be said about these LinkUP cables. I purchased mine on Amazon.
And YES!, there was an obvious improvement in both sound and video. The television is much clearer, more vivid. I use a Roku Ultra and a BuzzTV U5 Android box for streaming TV. The audio is more detailed, there is a livelier, a more natural sound to everything without diminishing any clarity or separation, which is outstanding.
Yes, it was worth the price of entry, I am happy, and that is all that matters. I cannot wait for my 10 mhz clock to arrive…
Rowland uses switching power supplies in some of their amps. So
I would agree, it depends on the quality of the parts and the design.
I’d be a little nervous about the quality of the batteries being used, and the capability of the charger to not over charge, what I suspect are lithium ion batteries.
