M700 or could be the SGCD, a tale of being careful what is attached to it (in my case)

I have had a problem with my setup. A few weeks ago I had a new PC installed, and it was causing a loud hum. I re instated the old PC, hum was gone, so reluctantly t went back. I immediately spoke to my dealer, thinking it was a speaker problem, he came out and took the speaker away, after consulting the UK importer. He returned with the speaker this week and while we were listening to it we both noticed that the sound was heavy on the RH speaker, as if a balance button had been fully turned to favour it. The speaker wires were switched over at the SGCD and the sound was very LH side dependant. He took the offending M700 amp away to be diagnosed by the UK importer of PS gear. He then had a thought, it could be the SGCD, and the PC that was hooked up to it may have caused damage to the board, this has to be looked into if the fault is NOT the M700, then he will send that of to be checked out… so have had to do all my listening via a £1600, 5 year old Anthem MRX520 (a basic 5.1 a/v amp, its quite good, but nowhere near the quality of the PS stack.
