Sorry I overlooked your post.

Would those that consider their Matrix setup complete please post some impressions?
Thanks

HI Ronald,
Ordered mine from Audiophonics in France. Took 4 days to arrive in the UK. Great service. Matrix sounds superb using is input. Now awaiting Wirework silver starlight 7 hdmi.

Hi Wijber, I shouldn’t be asking so soon, but any first impressions on the Mocha? Just a few left in UK at reduced price and I’m wondering whether to snap one up to replace an old Wireworld Silver 5.2 that I got cheap on eBay to get me going when my Matrix arrived. Thanks, Mike.

Only 3 Mocha left on Amazon @ $199…

My thoughts exactly!!

I will be joining The Bootzilla Matrix Club very soon myself. I have gone a different route to get there though. I used to run a Devialet with ethernet direct from my PC. It was very good, and much better then the USB direct, but I knew there was better. Other issues made me abandon the Devialet and join the PS Audio DSD Sr. Club.

Anyway, going back to USB directly left a lot to be desired. I also had wondered if I had made a big mistake! So, knowing that ethernet is galvanicly isolated, I bought the iFI igalvanic to see if that was what was missing. Made a HUGE improvement as I was pretty sure it would. No external plug in option. Takes the USB power and cleans it before it outputs it to the other side. No drivers, no external power, huge SQ benefit with soundstage and clarity. After burn in, also replaced AQ Diamond USB for Curious Cable. Also a nice SQ bump, but not as significant as the igalvanic. 30" Curious in, 8" Curious out to DSD Sr.

I don’t want or possibly need to “plug in” anything else. That was why I was so happy when you started talking about the Matrix on this thread, and I found out it did not need to be “externally powered”. And usama.amin started talking about perfering the sound without external power… now I am in! With the clean power from the igalvanic, I will forgo an LPS and get a good HDMI. Probably WW platinum. Although, I will start with your “one convey” till burn in is over. Already in the wish list for Amazon!!

The Matrix are suppose to be back in stock March 7th. I will grab one then, and let you and everyone else know how she sounds…

I replaced an old Wireworld Chroma 5 with the Mocha on the Matrix, and glad I did. For me, it was a noticeable improvement. So much so, I bought another Mocha to use it on my Bluray since I noticed a distinct video improvement as well.

It’s a keeper for sure, needing another HDMI cable anyway and it seems to slightly better the Monster UHD4K platinum HDMI cold out of the box. Probably needs some more hours on it to give it’s best…

For those using the Mocha HDMI, what kind of battery does it take, and how long is it supposed to last? Thanks.

After a couple of years still no need to replace the battery in my Audioquest Diamond USB and RJ/E.

" When the time comes to replace the batteries, you’ll need Duracell MN21, Energizer A23 or equivalent. These batteries are commonly used in garage door & car alarm remotes and are available in home centers and drug stores or most places that sell batteries.
On older DBS packs there’s a “door” on the back of the pack. Slide the “door” open to access the batteries. On newer DBS packs (with the matte finish) there’s a small Phillips head screw on the bottom cap. Remove the screw and the cap to access the batteries.

So I have an AQ Diamond USB and YOU BASTARDS MADE ME BUY THE MOCHA!!! lol. I’m not sure I can say that but all in fun!!

I just had difficulty w a fine cable going into the matrix and a cheapo one going out. I’ll do a comparison when everything arrives.

Thanks Wijber, looks like I need to place that order…regards, Mike.

I cannot decide between Mocha and Coffee, so I think I will get both . . .

A friend of mine recently bought several pairs of used AQ Colorado XLR’s off eBay. The battery packs had either run out of battery. He contacted AQ, and they sent him all new battery packs for free.

I have a usb Diamond. Never an issue. Think going on 3 years

Well, I bought the iPad USB2 Camera adapter, but no dice. Roon sees it as an input, but I can only get it to play to the iPad speaker.
Anyone else know how to make this work?
For starts, it appears that one needs the USB3 Camera adapter, because it allows charging the ipad while in use, but do I also need a powered USB hub to make the DSD accept the input?

Mike, Could you please elaborate what are the improvements by adding Matrix between Melco and DS? Thanks.

Bootzilla, Could you please elaborate what are the improvements by adding Matrix between Melco and DS? Thanks.

Hi Zheng4, a few improvements from my perspective, when compared to Bridge 2 that I was using previously:

  1. Less grain, more detail, improved soundstage (I’m not great at pin pointing the exact changes, these are impressions I get). I’d say I’m tapping my toes more than before, which is a good sign!
  2. No more pops and glitches that I was getting with Bridge.
  3. Gapless playback now working perfectly (I know this isn’t fixed by the Matrix, I could have fixed it by moving to USB).

Regards, Mike.

+1 as to @mike-marks’ comments. I would add better PRaT (pace, rhythm and timing), which Mike aptly described as more toe-tapping.
