Ok, if it only had I2s in I would buy the Matrix just to break the conflicting supply voltage coming from my Rockna. My Rocka does not have USB out.
Thanks- could you please clarify which “WW Silver”? Does this include the new Silver Sphere HDMI? Has anyone auditioned the Silver Sphere?
I bought silver sphere about a month ago. Can’t hear difference against “no-name” 8k HDMI cable for 20bucks, but it sounds great
When I said Silver to Gold to Platinum, I meant the Eclipse’s interconnects. Each step up meant clearer and more detailed sound. I also did tried the Silver Sphere HDMI ands it sounded very close to my Kimber H29. But my Platinum 7 was in another league. But I would go with the Revelation Audio HDMI. It is lower priced than the Platinum 7 but even higher in resolution.
How long is the turn around time between purchasing a Revelation Audio HDMI and receiving it. I was considering the cable but do not want to wait for it for a long time.
It’s hard to say. I’ve heard someone say he got it in about a week, but most like in weeks. You can call Brad, but that does not guarantee a faster turnover however. Unfortunately that is one of the main drawback of getting this cable. The other is this cable is not too flexible, so a longer length helps, but the sound is stunning.
Thanks for the feedback. I was considering the RA HDMI, but was also put off by feedback on slow turnaround / deliveries / feedback. I also had trouble logging into his website but may try again.
I bit the bullet and purchased a Revelation Audio HDMI! At least I’ve paid with PayPal so some protection if it doesn’t show up. Fingers crossed!
So far everybody who ordered one has gotten it. Brad will send it. Hopefully he has one in stock and you should not have to wait long. Otherwise hang in there, you will get one when he hand built one for you. I believe he hand built all his cables, that is why sometimes it takes so long especially when he has back orders. But it was worth the wait since the sound blew me away.
Same here. It took something like 2 months to get mine, but I did get it. In correspondence, he confirmed he’s a one-man band and can get behind.
It does sound very nice.
That is very reassuring to hear. I’m excited! The WW Silver Sphere will have to hold the place til then. Thank you waymanchen11 and hthhaller.
My first order took longer than I wanted it to. But the cable sounded so good I ordered a second. That took longer than I wanted too as well. I would not hesitate to order a third if I needed it.
If you are in a hurry and do not wish to be troubled by possible long waits buy a Wireworld Platinum Starlight and enjoy fine sound, but not as fine as with the Revelation Audio HDMI cable.
G’Day MikeK - the Matrix is available in Australia. Try https://a1futureshop.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=334
Or
I ordered via the first one and am awaiting arrival. I’ll be interested in your audition!
Cheers,
Phil
Thanks for the info Phil but I ended up ordering one directly from Power Holdings. It was delivered last year and I’ve finally settled on a configuration that serves my current situation and sounds pretty good at that!
My original intent was to try the I2S input to the DS DAC and compare its sound with input from the Bridge. If you trawl back through this topic you’ll see my progress reports. Suffice to say I found the sound via the Matrix/I2S using WW Starlight Silver USB/HDMI cables and UltraCap LPS-1.2 to be superior to the B2 on my system.
I’ve basically achieved what I set out to test and for a few reasons will ‘make do’ with this set up for the moment.
When budget permits and after I’ve moved in to my new house where I’ve designed in accommodation for the system, I’ll work on the next step. I’m next going to investigate using Next Unit of Computing (NUC)-like technology to channel all my audio sources through the Matrix/I2S combination. I’ve tried (and am currently using) a Raspberry Pi 4 for just audio (PCM and DSD) to feed the Matrix with eminently satisfying results but the RPi4 doesn’t have enough grunt to manage hi-res video as well. I think NUC technology may be the solution here.
Exciting work ahead!
Hi Mike,
Thanks very much for the feedback. This is a long forum!! Shows the level of interest and engagement. Your findings seem to mirror others. I am waiting for my Matrix to arrive with a Matrix Audio USB, which I will compare with a Sonic Art Reference USB that is also coming my way. I ordered a WW Silver Sphere HDMI, but that hasn’t arrived either. I then bit the bullet and also ordered a Revolution Audio HDMI!
I made the switch from running Roon from my iMac via Ethernet to the B2, to switching Roon over to the Roon Nucleus +. The Nucleus+ is plugged into my P20, as is the local switch. A MAJOR step up in SQ!! I can highly recommend the Nucleus+.
You need an USB end point/streamer like the UltraRendu…
Or a Mac Mini
Yep. That’ll do the trick
My Matrix X-SPDIF 2 arrived today, with Matrix Audio USB (the better one), and a WW Silver Sphere HDMI. Unplugged the Ethernet from my Directstream DAC and used the I2S from the Matrix. Very clear step up in SQ, even cold and not run in. I don’t see myself going back to the Bridge2. It’s a sweeter sound, more detail, ambience and presence. Yet another “veil” lifted, as we often say.
So far, just running the Matrix X-SPDIF 2 from the USB bus. I’ve ordered an Sbooster 9-10V LPS which I will use for the Matrix when it arrives. I’m also patiently awaiting a Revelation Audio HDMI!! It’s exciting to anticipate the further improvements that will come with these.
P20 - Nucleus+ - Matrix Audio USB - Matrix X-SPDIF 2 - WW Silver Sphere HDMI - Directstream - BHK Pre - BHK 300s - Amphion Krypton3 speakers. Sonic Art Reference XLR cables & speaker cables (running in parallel with Analysis Plus Oval 12).
If you haven’t already, pull the Bridge II card from the DAC…that will improve sound quality even more.
Yep, I intend to do that once I’ve retrieved the box it came in - I hope that the cover for the slot will also be in that box.
