Matrix X-SPDIF 2

I remember way back when I wanted to purchase my first LPS, the UltraCap 1.2 from UpTone and at that time the 1,2 was a new upgraded version, and sold out. You can preorder and long waiting period. I didn’t wait and got the Sbooster instead. Then the Sbooster got popular and there was a waiting period for that. Now there seem to be an influx of people interested in the Farad for some reason, thus a waiting period.

I ordered one very recently and they shipped it within a couple of days - the delay is with shipping from Netherlands to where I live in Australia, as the usual couriers wouldn’t take it for some reason (I’m regional), so he reluctantly sent via Netherlands Post.

For some reason? Along with the Spdif it’s the hottest topic on the forums right now! I hope it lives up to the hype because if it does it must be phenomenal!

Oddly enough I have been told quite firmly to absolutely not put any sort of power conditioner between power and the Gryphon amp.

@aangen, That’s what PS Audio says to sell their Regenerators which aren’t conditioners . Lol. Somebody must be right.

I recall them costing more when I first looked at them. Did they reduce in price or am I just getting used to audiophile pricing. Probably the latter, since I have more experience with what an LPS does in the digital chain

The price is 439eur, + 129eur Orange fuse, + Furutech IEC 49eur, + level 2 silver 100cm 170eur = 916eur, which is equal to $1,121.08. That’s what I paid. No taxes, free shipping.

That’s a bargain!

I paid (incl. €175 VAT) 1011 with 50cm level 2 silver with Mattijs less than an hour away…

Is this VAT charged only to locals?

I found another forum which was discussing and testing linear power supplies, including the Sbooster and Farad. Interesting that their findings seem to corroborate those of this group.

Standard VAT rate in the Netherlands is 21%. EU countries have different VAT rates, when exported to another EU country their local rate will be charged. When exporting goods outside the EU 0% VAT is charged as the import duties and tax rates of the country of export apply…

…that’s nice because if he ever swallows one you can simply pull it out at the back

i’ve heard rabbits are buggers for cable chewing.
worst i experienced was a foster cat that turned out to have a protozoan bowel infection. all over the wiring loom behind the tv/hifi setup we had at the time. clearing up was not nice. i threw most of the cable away…

I’ve ordered mine, shipping on Tuesday

Bless you, if you tossed the cable does that mean you kept the kitty?

Anybody looking for a Matrix X-SPDIF 2?
There is one on Audiogon with a buy it now price of $250 US with free shipping.
That is as of Sunday 11/1/20 at 4 AM.

So my Farad arrived 3 days ago, it sounded ‘ok’ to start with and then got more tinny sounding, Not nice. I was still not happy with it this morning, beginning to think I had completely wasted £1200 inc tax, but this afternoon, all of a sudden, ohh, this is beginning to sound good, very solid sounding. Maybe not wasted my money after all :grinning:

Give it more time. The fuse and DC cable needs time to break in as well. After about 2 weeks, mine really blossomed! A lot fuller and much higher resolution sounding! The better the recording, the more it shows! Now it’s Oh my God!!, it can’t get better than this!!
