Matrix X-SPDIF 2

My dog doesn’t chew my cables…!!

Congrats! Didn’t expect otherwise, the Matrix-i2S-DS combi is great but feeding the Matrix with the fully loaded Farad really does the miracles. There’s no need playing something for burn in, just keep it plugged in and enjoy .

I’m sure I missed it a dozen times but this thread would take a lifetime to sift through. How are you guys spec’ing your Farad for the Matrix? (DC Output/Fuse upgrade/AC inlet thingy, etc…)

I see “fully loaded” but there are a few options.

Hi Al,
Look into Furutech outlets with Rhodium plating and grip design. I stock piled 5 after discovering a 40% off sale. :grinning:

Really?

Time to order 4 P20s while the special is on. I only ordered one for my four new dedicated AC lines. I hope it drives my system without shutting down.

If your getting class A amps you will want all those circuits.

I believe fully loaded Farad is the SR Orange fuse, furutech rhodium power inlet, and upgraded DC cable level 2 silver.

That’s correct

thanks, and what DC output?

Depends on your preference. @waymanchen11 chose 7v, i chose 6v (recommended by Matrix)

And I have 7 v. 7 is a prime number so…

That’s where I’m confused. I keep reading 9v to power the matrix in a lot of forum post but consistently see 6v and 7v with Farad owners. Is the selection determined by the country where the Farad is used? 9v US and 7v Europe? I’m just guessing here and would love to hear from someone who knows. Thank you

the matrix accepts 5-9 volts, right? (Or 5V if powered by USB, 6-9V from a power supply.)

So 9V is max, and some here (if you scour the thread) say that all you get from 9V is added heat. They feel like it’s no major deal, but might shorten the life. Others say there’s a sweet spot at 7V.

I had an email from one of the main distributor guys (Arthur Power) who said 9V is just fine.

So, if you ask, there will be opinions, but no definitives.

I think there was a poll somewhere.

On Farad website under Confirmed Loads it says 7v recommended for Matrix, which is what I have.

No definite answer (I was 9v fan) but I think this 7v/9v thing is to do with different noise patterns produced by variable output voltage lps used. As everyone is having good results with 7v Farad it’s best to stay at that as Ted has also repeatedly said 9v will reduce matrix usable life. Also with this VERY expensive psu there should be much lower noise patterns anyway

Fully loaded = US $725, for those scoring at home.

On the Farad website, for those who are about to order…

“Normally we finish and ship your order within 7 working days.
Due to a high increase of orders combined with some part delivery delays we endure longer than normal delivery times until end of November. If you are in a hurry, please ask us about your estimated delivery time before ordering.”

”The power dissipation of a linear regulator is dependent on the ingoing and outgoing voltage and current. Therefore the only way to make the output flexible is to make the input voltage flexible or by using switching power regulators, as many other brands do. Both of these ways are very sub-optimal designs. Since we are aiming to be the absolute reference in linear regulated power supplies, we specifically choose to go for rigid, but fully optimized fixed output voltage in our power supplies.”

Don’t forget the silver .5m DC cable for true fully loaded 219 euros = $257.25us.

$981 is the score.

And a bottle of Booker’s for the day of the big reveal
