Yes. I think the DS and the Matrix sound better than the DS and Bridge with the full unfold.
Good to know. I will come abord the Matrix express!
Don’t forget that MQA is a lossy format.
Well I have listened at length to all my “cheap” HDMI cables and the double-ferrite choke MP cable was the best sounding. But then Along Comes Maryeeeeee. My apologies to Davy Jones, but I am referring to a WW Platinum Starlight 7 HDMI cable that landed here yesterday. So how could it not trump all those cheap cables? It generates a 3-D soundstage that is very evident on my Stax 009 headphones. I’ll skip all the other general thread consensus accolades that I find also apply. So for now my very truncated HDMI cable assessment is over. Phase I complete.
Phase II. Monday I should receive an UpTone LPS-1.2 PS. Although my current split-leg Light Harmonic Lightspeed USB cable has been sounding wonderful feeding power and USB signals to my Matrix, I am expecting an improvement with the UpTone PS. Thank you all for the insight that was provided in the first 2,876 posts that I have read in this never-ending thread. I only hope early opinion retractions are not lurking among the final 1,989 threads.
The Uptone LPS 1.2 is my least favorite purchase. I no longer use them and to be kind I refuse to resell them. Bah.
The Wireworld Platinum is a joy to use. It goes on the shelf after you buy a RAL Hdmi cable though. The joy is quickly surpassed by the RAL sound.
Yes, the Sbooster or if you want to spend the money, the Farad Super 3 beats the UpTone in performance.
And the RAL HDMI easily outperforms the WW Platinum S7 in sound quality.
Could either/both of you offer your opinion(s) as to the manner in which the WWPS is surpassed in sound performance by the RAL? And the relative magnitude of said enhancement. Thanks.
It just plain sounds quite a bit better, so much so that I put the Wireworld in its protective case. It lives there still. What difference did you hear between your previous cable and the Wireworld Platinum? Think about that improvement again over what you hear now.
But, if you stop and stay with what you have you are in a really good place.
Btw, I bought two RAL HDMI cables…
Thanks. Your question entices me to consider placing an order for an RAL. The RAL normal delivery period would still give me plenty of listening time with the WWPS to firmly establish its flavor in my brain. Wish I could relax my itchy audiophile trigger finger for a while though. That greener grass often turns out to be not a whole lot better than what’s on my side of the fence. Maybe I should upgrade my LPS-1.2 now too even though I haven’t even heard it yet
Sit tight for a while and enjoy the process.
I used an ordinary power supply in the matrix, the gain was lower than the usb connection. I did not hear any improvement in sound either. The power I use is not lps.
That would be The Association…
Thanks Double appolgies to the Association then Love both those old groups
So I’m going to get an Sbooster for the matrix. Currently using the UpTone LPS 1.0.
Question, what voltage should I get the sbooster for the matrix? I’ve heard some people like a certain voltage for SQ.
That is the question. Pays your money and takes your choice. In other words it all depends who you listen to.
My advice is save your money and go for the Farad Super 3 instead. I had the Sbooster with the Ultra upgrade and SR Orange fuse installed, Then I got the Farad with the level 2 silver DC cable, SR Orange fuse, and Furutech IEC upgrade and was quite shocked how much clearer the Farad sounded. The Sbooster is quite good, but the difference won’t be as great with your Uptone.
My Sbooster was 6v. The Farad is 7v. I have since sold the Sbooster.
I think this is good advice, nothing compares to the Super3 IMO. I did the same as @waymanchen11 except I’m very partial to Zenwave’s silver DC cables and always go that route.
Thanks for the advice. After some research I pulled the trigger on the Ferrum Hypsos. Ive read it also bests the sBooster and the Super3 + goodies is almost as much as the Hypsos.
Only good reviews so far on it and its fairly new so there won’t be too much out there anyway. Big reason I want it is so I can tweak my output voltage to whatever I want. This will allow me to make more efficient purchases on future power supplies, which makes it even more worth it to me.
I’ll keep you guys posted.
