Matrix X-SPDIF 2

I believe the Wireworld store was still showing the Platinum 7 and not the 8. They may be in transition.

Just don’t want to pass along misleading info on the thread in case someone else is interested in the the WW 7 series HDMI cables. By the way I just talked to Will at Wireworld and he confirmed there are no plans to discontinue or replace the HDMI 7 series any time in the near future.

Maybe you got this confused with a the discontinued WW cable boot just bought.

Current WW 7 series HDMI cables:

That’s interesting but I ordered a Silver Starlight 7 and was charged $350, not the cheaper cable to which you referred. Fatwyre is no longer showing the Silver Starlight 7 on its site. Very confusing indeed, but I’m not the source of the confusion.

Yes - it is interesting … I just went back to look at their pricing on audioaficionado.org and I see they released their series 8 interconnects & speaker cables … but it looks like the digital cables still show series 7 … this was back in April 2018… If you guys are paying ‘sticker’ for the wires - you may want to talk to ‘MasterLu’ on that sight (Ivan)… by subscribing to the site (25 dollars) - it is said he gives decent discounts on the cable… You can become a guest (non-subscriber) - and possibly still ping him to see what is up… But the Wireworld thread (sticky) there shows full retail for all of their cables

I just ordered a Matrix Spdif 2 to be use between my AlloUsbridge and my DSsr.
Can’t wait to share my findings.

It is my understanding that there currently is no HDMI cables in the 8 series available yet. YET. Whomever said the 7 series HDMI cable is no longer available should be labeled as incorrect.

I’ve had a very similar experience with more than one online source that advertised a 1m Silver Starlight 7. Very few carry inventory, they drop ship from WW. The good ones told me they didn’t have the 1m cables and offered 2m at the same price (doesn’t work for me). The last one had the cable drop shipped directly from WW and it showed up as a 2m not 1m cable.

They considered that an upgrade, I didn’t. Almost 4ft of extra, and heavy, HDMI cable isn’t something I need. I’ve returned the cable and am waiting for the refund.

Bottom line: I don’t think that WW has any more 1M Silver Starlight 7 HDMI cables left. Ask if the retailer has the cable in hand before you buy. Otherwise you just end up waiting for a refund when they can’t deliver.

I decided I cannot live with just one IIS input so I bought a DSD SR. I am keeping the DSD Jr so I suppose I am going to need yet another Matrix. (and more expensive cables!) Sigh.
On a happy note, that takes care of two rooms, three more to go. (Ignore the fact that two of the rooms are separated by one wall) Merica!

In term of being incorrect I placed an order For the Series 7 silver HDMI 1.0M at $350 with one dealer , he booked the order and later told me that wireworld said they have no inventory and will not be getting more

I am not sure how this can be labeled as incorrect.

to make matters worse you go on the wireworld site and they will let you order the cable and pay for it.

I also talked to Will at Wireworld and he stated that they have no stock and are not making anymore.

this is the weirdest thing I am seen for awhile, why would a company discontinue a successful product line and not announce anew line. Unless they have a supply chain issue they don’t want to divulge

Go figure

I am sad about this. I need another one myself. I will find it. I will.

thanks just ordered it

According to dealer on audioaficionado - on 10/2018 he said the silver starlight 8 was coming 1st quarter 2019. So I really think this is a matter of model change over. Call me wrong - but that’s what everything points to. Get the 7s at a discount while you can!!

But I wouldn’t buy it from Hong Kong.

Care to share why?

I also find it interesting that anyone would blindly choose a non-existent (not publicly available) version 8 cable knowing nothing about it, versus a highly acclaimed version 7 with lots of actual user testimonials.

Sure. Cables are more readily counterfeit. If it’s a certified dealer in Hong Kong that’s one thing if not I just wouldn’t risk it. AQ goes to some lengths warning people of counterfeits.

Since the series 8 cable is not out yet nobody is blindly choosing it. Also, if and when it does come out, we may well see more series 7 cables hitting the used market.

Sure, a generalization but did you happen to look at that seller’s feedback or the other items they offer for sale?

Sorry, poor selection of words. Better put, why would someone refrain from purchasing a known great cable for one that is yet to be released with no gurantee it will be superior?

I get the point about used cables for sale at a discount but there just aren’t many used WW cables (of the higher tier) out there of any generation. Again, we all have our motivations to purchase, or not, and it is personal. For me, I don’t really care about version 8 until I need to care about version 8. That is, until it hits the market and has several months of user feedback that substantiates it superiority over version 7, it has no influence on my current buying decision.

Well. Folks can do what they please. But full sticker on a silver starlight 1m cable is 350. I just don’t think @ 320 coming from ‘Hong Kong basket’ is something I would do.
