A picture?? Can’t make out a darned thing… where’s The diagram?
@fdreed - OK, here are a few… the JMaxwell is the USB A to USB B coming out of the top component (Matrix). It loops from there to the Nucleus+
Top shelf plinth set up that will happen next week.
Then BD of the system…
2nd shelf Sboosters for the various shinny little boxes… just finished laying that out today after getting the custom Bamboo plinth… I just sanded and painted the rear cable bar (0.25in think channel steel 3.5in X 21in). I drilled the holes that will be straddling each cable to constrain all (4) SR Delta NR power cables for the (4) Sboosters. That way there is no tugging on the Sbooster LPS cause the cords have weight in the Z plane… the cables will be constrained in the X plane on the plinth with special screw type zip ties and then cascade over the plinth/2nd shelf and become constrained in Z plane as they transition over the channel steel rack cable bar with zip ties in the holes straddling the power cords. I had to lay it all out to make sure the tiny holes I drilled were right on the money.
You really are amazing, thanks!
@fdreed - All good, I consider this a full contact sport. I just finished the rack layout, waiting on my Isoacoustic pucks… I like to lay it all out before… less drama when you are hooking it up… these drawings are all to scale and you would be surprised the issues you did not think about till you put it in a drawing. I even did the trig calculations on the OCC XLR cables to make sure I would not get close to min bend radius…
@fdreed - O
Wireworld Platinum 8 something. No Risk it could be sad.
I ended up ordering a .6 meter Starlight Silver 7 because they were a good deal on close out. I’m hoping the are a significant improvement on my Shunyata.
That will sound fine. I had one of those as well but then I found the Platinum Starlight 7 on Ebay for less than half price and oddly enough it did sound noticeably better. I have the silver 7 sitting on a shelf now. Hmmmmm.
The Silver is a plated copper, I much prefer the Platinum. Solid silver always sounds highly detailed, without the harshness of plated copper.
Originally I stated that the Wireworld Silver Starlight HDMI sounded better than the DH Labs Glass Master optical cable between my Matrix and DSD Sr. That was with swapping them out and listening with just one cable connected at a time. Today I tried them with both cables connected at the same time and switching back and forth between the 2 inputs via the remote and I could not tell a difference. They both sounded absolutely identical :^ /
Ted has explained in the past that doing it that way will yield identical results. That’s why he suggests unplugging the one not in use
Well if that’s actually the case then it’s nearly impossible if the two you are comparing are remotely close. By the time you switch them the brain has forgotten unless the difference is huge :^ /
Funnily enough, I have a Singxer Su6 that has 2 HMDI outlets. My new DSD DAC has 2 HDMI inputs. So I can (and have) switched between different cables (blind). Result? Very minor differences. I guess that’s not too surprising. But there were still small differences so it wasn’t a total blow out.
Just joined the club. I ordered the Matrix on
Monday and amazingly it arrived from China on Thursday morning. I unpacked it , connected it using new Wireworld starlight 7 HDMI cables and just started listening. Feel good that it worked immediately since I had a little trouble figuring out the connections Anyone have advice on break in time for both the Matrix and the cables or any other tips for a new club member ? I now have three input choices-the Matrix, usb and the bridge (which I may return to PS Audio if they don’t resolve the problem with pops and ticks).
If I remember the matrix sounded a bit smoother after a week
Congratulations. It took at least 2 weeks for me for the matrix. Then I changed cables and it took the cables at least a week or two.
I liked mine from the start. It got a lot better with the Uptone LPS 1.2 power supply set to NINE volts.
Yeah, it certainly makes a different. Subtle at first, but cleans, opens up the sound and improves resolution even more.
