If not, I’ll list it for sale… and wait for the Bridge III
Yah. FWIW. I am using the wall wart from the recovery unit into a p10. So I am not using USB power. I have always had my dip switch to play DSD out (not DOP). I haven’t gone down the audiophile power supply path yet. I am using AQ Diamond USB and AQ Mocha I2S.
So even though this is a older cable option it’s still very good? $40 seems like a solid deal.
Well, don’t forget PS Audio is working on a streamer that I’m sure will output I2S… if you can stand to wait awhile.
Yes, it should be way better than today’s options under $50. It shouldn’t be much different than their Series 6 version. The Series 7 added some major upgrades in tech and strand counts but they are ridiculously hard to find because it’s been dis-continued. I believe it was too similar to their Silver Starlight so they decided to make people pay up for it. Actually ANY Wireworld HDMI cable is very hard to find on the used market, or even new at the popular lengths. They are gearing towards Series 8 which won’t be out for possibly a year.
A good point as I’m sure you’re right. However with no release date that I’ve seen and the suspected price point…I don’t know if that will be for me. Definitely going to pull the trigger on something more modest in the meantime.
If you want an expensive PS Audio-only solution, sure, wait. I only have a PS Audio DAC and in no way want to be tied to a PS Audio ecosystem. The only reason I have a PS Audio product is because of Ted Smith and the fact that PS Audio makes his DAC. I have no desire to buy Octave and the associated very expensive hardware it will require. PS Audio’s track record with software is not very good and Octave will have massive software requirements if it is going to take on Roon.
So, just a final confirmation for all you Matrix users out there, I’m getting ready to buy the unit and I want to make sure it was working my setup.
The Matrix will work from my sotm sms-200 streamer connected via USB and I want to run the Matrix using the HDMI cable to my stellar gain cell DAC?
I will be running Tidal through my Windows 10 computer on Audirvana and I upsample everything to dsd in Audirvana.
Thanks all! If this works which settings on the Matrix unit should I apply?
The Matrix should work in that scenario. You might benefit from an external PSU to the Matrix, though.
The Matrix can handle incoming DSD from USB and pass it out via I2S, so you should be fine there, too.
See this poll for peoples’ preferred Matrix settings:
Awesome, thanks for the help bootzilla!!!
Can’t wait to get my official “Congratulations, Welcome To The Club” post!
Though, I know there’s been enough of those
Let us know if/when you pull the trigger . . .
Anyone here powering the Matrix directly from USB out of an Innuos server? I am and feel the Innuos is a solid power supply and I would not benefit from an external power supply. But I really do NOT know and have no experience. Looking for others who have compared both ways or reasons why it would sound better with a good linear power supply. Thanks!
I am currently doing something similar. I have a very nice Teddy Pardo LPS powering an ultraRendu which itself puts out very clean power to the +5 USB feeding the Matrix. I don’t have another LPS to use to power the Matrix so I have not tested the idea that clean USB power is as good as an LPS.
I am not excited enough about it to go out of my way to test it…
Will do, should hopefully be getting it next week.
So this is a question for anyone using an external power supply with a Matrix. Will the led light turn on ( yellow? ) when power is supplied without USB? If not, how am I know know for sure if the power is coming form power supply vs USB connection??
I power the Matrix from a 6v rechargable battery. When I connect and disconnect the terminals, the LED blinks but remains green. That’s the only indication I get.
oK, so when I connected the power cable from my Uptone liner power supply set at 7 or 9 volts to Matrix when the mac mini is off, I get nothing from the Matrix! WTF? I am getting frustrated so far with the Matrix. Someone wanna shed so light?
No need to get frustrated. The Matrix does not show any color light unless it is plugged into USB. You just have accept the fact it is getting power from the LPS when it is plugged into it.
LOL, seems odd to me. Silly stand by feature breeds doubt.
So do you notice a difference in sound w the LPS?
