Great. It’s good to get off the hamster wheel occasionally and enjoy what you have without having to think too much about anything else.
I’m not an audiophile who can hear a squirrel fart in the yard through the walls of my house but apparently they do exist. I personally can’t hear the difference of my multi rail power supply feeding my peripheral devices and dedicated ones feeding each and every one. Oh and you Need nordost Valhalla power cables for your matrix LPS you will hear a difference. I guarantee it.
I do not have a Nordost Valhalla to try, but I do have a Pangea AC9 MkII and I just compared it to the stock cord that came with the Sbooster and you would not go back to the stock cord if you heard what I heard. The difference is not gigantic, but definitely duller. The highs and transients don’t ring out with much air and overall grainier sound with the stock cord. I also try a Acoustic Zen Gargantua II, a $1500 power cord and it was close to the Pangea. Hard to tell the difference, but I thought the AZ had slightly better highs. I don’t think having more expensive cords powering the LPS makes much difference, but from the stock cord, it is considerable. As I mentioned elsewhere, the Jitterbug if anything, makes the sound worst maybe because the signal has one more obstacle to go through, but I just try pulling the Ifi Purifier 3 out and definitely prefer it in. It removes a little grain from the sound and the cleaner highs.
The difference with the Audience FrontRow USB and the WW Platinum S7 HDMI is a more drastic improvement in SQ. Put in a lesser cable there and you will hear it. Believe me, I have tried. You would never go back to those cheaper cables.
But that’s not the case with interconnects. I have found at lease in my system and my brother’s, the WW Platinum Eclipse 8’s is so much clearer and higher resolution than all the previous cables we tried including some much more expensive, like the SR Galileo ($7.5k) and the Tara Labs Zero ($16k). My brother sold those on Audiogon and actually came out ahead.
It’s not always the most expensive is better but the one with better balance to your system like everything else.
The Pangea and the stock cord.
I think you went a little over the top. I spent much less, maybe $3327.
I really wanted to say I use the Revelation Audio HDMI and save some money since it’s a little cheaper, instead if the WW, but I didn’t want someone else to get involved with Brad and have the same headache I had in getting the cable. But I’m still using the WW with the DMP and am very happy with it.
Also I wanted to add, my brother loan me a $6k power cord to try. The Tara Labs Cobalt power cable. I tried it on my power amp and found it extremely transparent and high resolution, but a little on the bright side for my system. I’m sticking to my NBS Omega Zero’s. A little better balanced in my system. Higher price is not always better.
My NBS Universal II preamp and power amps came with NBS power cables. I am leaving those be.
I am waiting on Brad though, lol.
