Does the C704 pads have capacitor polarity marked? If not what direction is +?
No polarity - itās a film cap.
Where have you been? these three mods have had many discussions here. All your questions have been answered many times.
Here is a start.
3105 Photo showing VOCM caps
3109 Link to 47uf caps
adding 8 - 47uf 10v caps https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/nichicon/UES1A470MEM1TD/4317390 (Vocm)
3117 and 3222 info on 0805 caps instead of the electrolytic. Easier to install over R6.
3192 and 3329 Info and photo on placement over R6 with polarity info.
3574 and 3580 C704 cap info and photo.
There is a ton more info here and other mods however I feel these are the most important mods that most can do.
Hope this helps.
I think Iāll quibble with this characterization. None are needed to get a right sound. The choices you might make on each mod will make a difference which is comparable to whether another of the changes is made. What sound is correct and right depends on each listener.
I always get a little annoyed when someone says that everyone who doesnāt do ⦠to a DS (any device really) is missing out. Some think the magic is using some USB filter, some think itās using a particular PC or MAC, some think itās a particular cable⦠Which each of these can make a noticeable and pleasant change for some, for others the change can be small or unpleasant.
Modding is a personal thing and people have varying goals. Thereās no particular set of mods that will make everyone happier. But this isnāt different than any other changes to our systems.
Yes Ted I agree however he was complaining on the sound he was getting.
Just trying to help.
I wasnāt trying to pick on anyone in particular. I think you picked a good set of posts to help him.
Thanks Ted.
These 3 mods along with the premium transformers made the biggest difference for me and with the other mods I did brought the sound up to DACS costing many times more.
Also I think most can accomplish these.
Oh yeah not questioning anything. I am not big hardware tech, more software. I got lost in the mud in this thread. Loving the LPS mod, loved the 4400ās mode. This one I though was just a simple upgrade. I have to decided If I want to continue down this mod, or put back 4400s are I was super happy there. I have to trust others hearing and move on or just call it quits. As you said Ted its up to me. Wish I just read more carefully.
One question. is the R6 = VOCM ? Trying to decipher all this.
Thanks. I should have looked at the data sheet for the Panasonic SMD I bought. Yes they are film. I had not looked at them since I got them and mixed it up with the Kemet SMD electrolytics I purchased for VCOM that do have polarity.
I also bought some electrolytic Panasonic Plated through holes for VCOM first.
Now to determine which electrolytis to use?
I wish I knew which would sound better.
I did both the electrolytic and the 0805 tants. They sound the same to me. The 0805 were faster to install.
Thanks much for that!
Might be my problem only, but as the posts have no numeration and a search for the numbers you mentioned gives no resultā¦how are the numbers meant?
In a windows browser I just slide the bar on the right till it shows the index number I posted.
I think it might be different for other browsers/OS.
Ok thanks, it might be the problem Iām browsing on the iPad currently.
If itās like my iphone you will see jump to⦠at the bottom. click it and type the number in.
Dear jkrichards, Iām interest in your new board.
Please send your PayPal account where I can pay you.

Seto
Like to ask where you all are buying your Lundahl LL1948 transformers ?
Is 280.00 USD each correct ?
Thank you
Apologies if this has been answered in this topic, but my recollection is that Jensen transformers are not an option in the MkII due to the reduced area above the circuit board. Also, the Lunduhl is sonically up to the task, and fits.
Yes. Putting the 47uf cap over the R6 resistor is the VOCM mod.
Placing these and the C704 should take less then 1 hour to do.
There is a Jensen transformer that will fit JT-11SSP-7MPC however it would need an adapter which we may make available. It is a great transformer. I think Ted recommended this one also. We have been trying to get some of these however Jensen sales team are not very responsive.
