I agree that there should not be reliability issues with the Lumin app, assuming a good network (wired or strong wifi); trying to stream hi-res audio over slow wifi can be tricky.
A minor clarification to what rodrigaj wrote: you need a server on the NAS. MinimServer is a great for people who want maximum control of what is displayed in the control point, probably using metadata beyond the typical album/artist/song title information. (I use MinimSever myself and love it.) But it’s a bit harder to set up; if one doesn’t need that level of control, other servers will do just fine. Since randyhat already owns a Synology, he could use Synology’s own Audio Station server along with BubbleUPnP Server and the Lumin control point (for the differences between a true server and BubbleUPnP Server, see post #15 above).
I have a Synology NAS. I have minimserver, upnp, Lumin app, Directstream Dac Jr connected to Ethernet. I am streaming tidal and my personal flac files. I believe I have done it!! Couldnt have without all your help. Thanks!!!
I cant say much about sound quality vs. CD because I havent had any CD’s in quite some time. However, I can say that the Sound Quality is superior to when I was running the DAC thru USB from my laptop. In addition I would says that the Sound Quality is excellent. I will also say that Both Lumin and Linn Kazoo keep crashing on my Android phone. I have switched to BubbleUPNP which seems a much more stable controller for Android.

Not surprising. In my experience, it takes a lot of tweaking to get USB playback to sound as good as the Ethernet/Bridge route.

Interesting; I had not heard of this issue before. Just to confirm: did you have BubbleUPnP Server create an OpenHome renderer? Neither Lumin nor Kazoo control points will work without OH. If you are using the BubbleUPnP control point on Android, you don't need the BubbleUPnP server since this control point does not require OH.
@magister0 The Android version of both Lumin App and Linn Kazoo is buggy. This threw me on another forum, as I had assumed the user was using the iOS version and could not understand the problem he was having.
Be aware the BubbleUpnp has been barred from doing MQA processing. For MQA MConnect Control is tied into the Bridge firmware and until Bridge III comes out MConnect Control does the most complete unfold of MQA files for now.

I will have to try that again. I tried MControl earlier and didnt like it for some reason that I cant remember but that was early on. I noticed that Bubble UPNP only allow 44.1 w/tidal.
Here is a quote from Jeff of Arabic, post 75: "I would encourage one NOT to use BubbleUp in this manner with Tidal – IF you want fully unfolded MQA playback. The native Tidal app does not allow MQA Masters. MConnect is the only option for MQA. "

One way we have found to make MConnect Control (different than MConnect Player) a little more friendly is to find an album you like and click the three dots on the right and Make a "My Playlist" name it with the album name. Or make a "My Playlist" of favorite Jazz with string bass and include favorite tracks with string bass to this "My Playlist". The Queue option does not function.

Remembered why i didn’t like MConnect. It would always stop connecting!. I am now using Linn Kazoo on a windows tablet and that is working nicely.
Do you have to have a Lumin Player to use the Lumin App? I downloaded the App and it can see both my Synology NAS Music libraries and miniserver content. It loads up the metadata on my iPhone but I can’t play anything or direct it to my DS. It seems wants a Lumin player present. Am I missing something?
