My very personal, subjective but ad-free, undogmatic and honest High End Munich 2019 show report ;-)

You misunderstood me here Rudolf.

When I mentioned that a lot was disappointing sounding and repeated, I meant the usual experience that only few % sound really great (that’s normal) and that a lot of the interesting, big setups/speakers even played with the same amplification as last year. And in my perception there were only few big setups that weren’t part of last years show already without major differences.

This doesn’t mean there were only few new products or versions of products announced at this show…they certainly were when looking more at the details and also at just exhibited but not played products. The latter is exactly what I didn’t do and bother about. Hope that explains the confusion you experienced.

And no, I had no intent to justify anything about PSA to EU customers. I just noticed, that they not only didn’t exhibit (which I knew from Paul before), but also that I saw no PSA products in any other showroom.

Nothing special…it was the same with many other US brands that would have been interesting.

Ok, that explains.

Yes it is disappointing that no PS Audio gear could be found at that exhibition. I hope the European representatives of PS Audio do a better job next time around and maybe already at the XFi in Veldhoven in September this year. Or the exhibition in Denmark @michael-denmark has been informing us about.

With respect to costs I understand that PS Audio does not fly in a group as big as for Axpona 2019 in Schaumburg IL (sounds German doesn’t it  ) or prototypes of the size of the AN3’s. But nothing for overseas customers?! Nothing to see, touch or listen to, while we are talking about serious shows for which audiophile customers travel far and pay premium entrance.

I mean, do the European reps intend to sell PS Audio gear over here or are they sitting back and let, Paul’s videos and people like members of this forum do their job.

Well it seems to work, as I ordered a SGCD this way. But so much more could be achieved.

Like I said I did really enjoy your other comments, the pictures and report style. Thank you for that.

Wonderful report, @jazznut, thanks! You did what I wish magazines would/could do. I really am interested in subjective experiences, especially from people I feel share similar taste in sound.

Thanks guys for the feedback!

I think it’s rare that just the distributor without the manufacturer invests in a show representation. And I really think it only makes sense if the gear either looks gorgeous or the room REALLY sounds far above most others. I don’t know if the average PSA show sound is like that, but also with a great music selection a lot can be reached (not the usual test tracks, but only the best, best sounding and unknown tracks that everyone asks for afterwards.

Everyone music nut with a large collection could fill a room just with playing music. Most show rooms shoo people away or bore them with their selection, which is a bad start.

So I really think it’s not worth it for most to display or demonstrate.
