Good observation! I’m still using also the HFTs buttons.
Dang. I was secretly hoping they’d be incompatible so I could stop paying attention to this thread.
The HFTs work more on focusing the image and/or tracing the boundaries of the soundstage while the B2s seem to turn on the music lights around the area where are placed into.
Both are acting as passive acoustic treatments but it appears to me that they do a different job, together at the same time. If I had to choose which one I prefer, I’d go with the B2s for sure. It doesn’t mean that I need to remove the HFTs though.
Sorry… if you don’t like what I’m saying.
It’s been a while…can we get another picture of your kit from the listening position?

Well Luca, what’s the results from adding an additional 3 at the front wall?
Also, can you describe the differences in going from your original 4 to 8 please?
Ignore the last query, I reread your earlier response in going from 4 to 8 and it covers what the improvements are.
I’m currently using a shop demo set of 4 and I’m hoping to get my 8 by next weekend, hence my query.
I felt asleep yesterday before providing you my impressions, sorry (@scotte1 be patient, I’ll post later a pic).
1 piece on the higher shelf: great!
2 more pieces on the mid-high shelf: too much, I don’t like the result. Maybe they were too close each other, ruining the general image that resulted unbalanced and too much focused around the place where I put them.
So I removed one piece from there and I placed it under the amp, on the floor. Much much better. Very happy, that’s the way!
During next weekend I’m going to experiment with my last 3 pieces.
Answering your question in short: I could have lived with just 4 pieces but I had some areas where I was sure that more B2s should have brought further improvements. And it happened: on the right and left shelves of the furniture on the front wall, bingo! Then I liked a lot placing a B2 on top of the Puritan and MSB chassis, that are still on the rack on the side wall.
I could stop with 8 pieces, it seemed logical.
From what I heard yesterday the extra 3 pieces have added a wonderful touch to the central image, in terms of realism and presence. Really lifelike.
To be continued…
Thanks Luca
Beautiful work.
Thanks, Scott. It never ends though, as you know.
Luca … unclear whether you are going to wait a week before deploying the last 3 pieces, or experiment with them during the coming week?
Keep us updated please.
Just added 1 on top of the MSB PowerBase chassis (the other was already on the DAC separated chassis) + 1 on top of the PhoenixNET and the last 1 on top of the PSU feeding the router.
The major improvement I got was yesterday under the amp, on the floor, though.
I want to try also on the furniture behind the listening position.
All seems to help, some more some less. Let me more time.
I ended the B2s set up (at least for a while).
I moved the HFT in the center of the front wall a bitter higher, then put back 2 pieces of B2 at the mid-hight shelf. This can work better to my ears (and to my eyes because symmetry is my evil too).
Based on my previous old pic (not updated so):
The others on top of the chassis:
11-12 MSB DAC and PowerBase
13 PSM 156
14 PhoenixNET
I’m done (maybe). My advice is starting from 8 pieces, it should be enough to appreciate the effect and be satisfied. Depending on room, system set up and preferences (and budget of course) 10-12 pieces could be the icing on the cake.
Then starts the law of diminishing returns.
In general I got a more beneficial result from these things than from other tweaks, like fuses or footers for instance and I got to say, I mean far far more. Funny to experiment different placements, I can hear changes even moving the B2s just a few inches backward or forward. Now the general feeling of relaxation and involvement worth the effort done. I’ happy.
symmetrical placements of course
My UK dealer says most people stick with the 8 and that’s what I’m planning on doing.
I’m definitely OCD about symmetry, I agree. Need to admit that behind the listening position and or the extreme side walls the B2s symmetry has less impact.
On top of components on the contrary the right placement is different: on top of the toroidal transformer, close to the IEC inlet or close to the face front. It depends.
It makes perfectly sense.
Hi Luca,
No burn-in time needed for these devices? ![]()
But seriuos can you hear the difference by placing one B2 clearly during a blind test?
I placed 5 resonators from acoustic system in the room.
But I had not noticed that 3 of them disappeared into the hoover after cleaning.
Fortunately, I saw it in time and was able to remove them from the bag again.
I might even be wrong about recognizing my wife in a blind test! This is not a practice I use to evaluate this hobby.
So I can’t say honestly. But with my eyes and ears wide open, oh yes… I can hear a so pleasant difference. I rarely listen to music eyes closed, I’m usually too busy reading posts of the other members of this crazy forum! And I’m two times happy in this way! That’s me.
Luca … can you go into more detail please as how you ended up placing the B2’s and where you found the most benefit.
Can you also clarify benefits found by placing them on top of equipment.
Did you try placing any underneath equipment, (I think you mentioned an amp proved very beneficial?)
Using them as support feet seems a much more expensive option as you’d need four for each piece of equipment used.
I don’t think I’m open to put them on the floor in front of my speakers, even though you highly recommend this, as I know at some point I’d end up kicking them, (by accident of course) and I’d be afraid of damaging them.
