Network Ethernet Filters and gadgets Other Than Muon Pro (System)

You could have Muon2 spares.

Has anyone here compared the SwitchX/WifiX system from DeJitterIt to the Tempus/Muon Pro system?

No. Two entirely different markets.

I was specifically asking in the context of how each of these approaches result in benefits to SQ when used with a Grimm MU2.

The Muon Pro comes with one cable. I have a WW Platinum 8 ethernet cable from my SR UEF switch to my streamer. When I insert the Muon Pro cable between the switch and Muon Pro, and the WW cable between Muon Pro to my streamer, the sound is glorious, but when I reverse the cables and run the Muon Pro cable between Muon Pro to the streamer, the sound got duller, even duller than if I took the Muon Pro out of the system and ran the WW cable straight from my switch to streamer. So the Muon Pro helps, but only if I keep the better cable between Muon Pro and streamer. The ethernet cable can cost more than the filter, so it doen’t make ecomonic sense to include a really good cable with the filter.

Similar experience here with the more humble Audioquest Forest ethernet cable.

Strange - as I had the Audioquest Diamond for a long time and replacing it with the Muon Pro brought noticeable improvements.

OP asks what’s happening other than the new Muon, so I want to report what caused me to repurpose my ENO, eno2, EtherREGEN, LHY FMC, Amphenol dac, Korenix JetNet M12 and other network experiments in August.

My latest upgrade is the most significant system change/addition since I purchased Meridian DSP9 active speakers in 2023:

Although it could be used with Audirvana or LMS, mine is currently a Roon endpoint consisting of two Raspberry Pi’s running Audiolinux with a completely isolated Diretta network link between them, all for less than $500.

This relatively inexpensive DIY network filter, which was developed by David Snyder, is explained over at Audiophile StyleHERE.

…and the silence is deafening…??? :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s the sound of hundreds of audiophiles rushing out to buy Raspberry Pi’s.

You won’t know if this new way to use Diretta can replace $10k streamers until more credible thought leaders try it and report back…

Indeed…it is!

PMA Magazine weighs in. Steven Stone says ā€œthe Diretta host/target system as a Roon endpoint has increased both the time I want to listen to my main system and my enjoyment while doing so. I think most audiophiles would consider that a meaningful and important system improvement.ā€
