The requestor need xlr as that is the analog output from his A&K Kann.
Go back to thew Primare I30.
Class A/B, balanced XLR inputs. Classy unit generally.
I see. I think the Hegel H120 has XLR, it’s $3000.
Good to know, you are correct. When I auditioned them it was not available. I ended up going in a different direction.
Here’s a deal for an XLR needing person. The Hegel Rost is the predecessor of the H120. It also retailed for $3000. Here’s a new one for $1799… has XLR. That’s a steal.
I’m currently located in Arizona, US, and will move to California, US. I’m planning to stop by the Schiit retailer store, which is located in Los Angeles, to listen to it.
@User_J your post is probably meant for @adifferentpaul
Speakers always blow the budget
Or is that amplifiers…
Or preamps…
Or dac’s…
Great suggestions… I’ll not recommend gear but I’ll urge you to go listen…
Speakers will absolutely make the most significant difference in your system. All the electronics recommended here are “good” and you won’t make a bad decision choosing anything from the list. But the speakers… they’re going to need to sing to you. You’re going to have to love how they look. How they fit in and then disappear in your environment. Go find a store. Go have a listen. Make some friends with the local audio shop. It’s difficult right now but so very worth experiencing that part of the hobby. Read 10,000 reviews and then go find that gear. Be able to identify why something was described as “bright” or “holographic” or “dynamic” or “dark”. Only then will you find what you want and what sings to you.
The electronics will make less difference and are easier to swap-around over the years. Go out into the world and find your speakers. Everything will fall into place from there.
Trust me on this: For what you’re looking for, Schiit is the schiit! A very creative, inventive company making high quality US made products.
I didn’t get it. But @adifferentpaul 's recommendation is based on what I want to listen to, like full range speakers for trumpet and other instrumental sounds. I think this is useful, though without listening it’s hard to say which is good for a particular kind of listening taste, if I understand it correctly.
This is the biggest lesson I’ve learnt by posting here. Thank you all! I’m checking some local dealers and see if I can go. You know the current situation.
In the spirit of affordable integrated amp with speakers exploration, the latest Darko video compares the various incarnations of the KEF LS50 using both a NAD integrated, and the Hegel H95. One of the LS50’s with a sub is not too shabby in both performance and price.
This is a fair assessment. I like he brands you mention. The problem w the separates (Border Patrol SE-i + Primalna or Rogue Audio) is that is $1500 + $3000 + another cable and powercord so $5000. And I didn’t want alot of cables/wires.
I wanted to buy American and was, to say the least, more than comfortably surprised by the trade in value PS Audio offered and very happy with ALL the effort they project – 30 day trial, free shipping, discounted new power cords they sold me, Pauls prolific writings, this forum, the fact they have a page of customer systems. So I went with the Stellar Strata and the price was way under $3000 after the trade in. And I can trade this unit back to them for other gear.
All the same, thanks for your sensible post
Congrats! I have a feeling you will really enjoy the Strata.
Congratulations!
Please do report back on your experience with the new gear once it has time to settle in a bit.
This crew loves to vicariously live along side of each other during the trials and triumphs of the audio gear/music journey.
Congratulations! You made a great decision. There’s much to be said for one box, for a variety of reasons. And there is no better company to purchase from than PS Audio, before or after the sale.
