New PMG DAC streamer question

Just how good is the streamer is supposed to be? I heard people saying on this forum that it adopts a new design that is different from AirLens. If it is truly great and competes with, say, ~7k independent streamers, then it would be a great deal and I can save my money for things like SACD transport or phono preamplifier.

PMG Signature Pre has arrived and it sounds amazing

is is said…that the streamer in the PMG512 is better than the AirLens How can this be stated as fact? Listening to the 512 streamer is presumably overshadowed by its DAC, and their relative contribution cannot be defined. I would expect on 512 DAC benefits are where the SQ derives, not the streamer. We shall see how folks distinguish the relative merits to overall SQ of the PMG512. Someone may figure out how to disconnect the streamer and listen to the isolated DAC.

Agreed. What is interesting about PMG DAC is that they decided to integrate a streamer into it – which was not done for MKII. And there is no big price jump, so it will be interesting to see…

From what I have been able to gather from Pauls comments it should be similar to the performance of the Airlens. He said any gains would likely be due to the fact that the new streamer doesn’t require any kind of cable to connect to the DAC.
