New PS Audio speakers?

Ask and ye shall receive

Planar midrange is in and getting mounted so we can measure performance. I’ll snag more pictures as opportunity allows.

Thanks so much, this picture satisfies my curiosity for the moment. It does, however, create a need for future posts
Greatly appreciated,
Chas

I think I’m in agreement with Paul about the black. I’m wondering if piano black or a leatherette surface would make it more upscale in appearance. I don’t mind the look but I think appearance is everything on these AN line speakers…also with performance of course.

Tweeter in! And a look at the servo controller board and the test bench.

Looks like a Bohlender Graebener -nice!

Perhaps the only forum where someone would get really excited about test bench equipment. And I say that joyfully.

Ah… that’s the Planar Midrange -but your comment still holds!

Are those magnetic planars?

Neodymium magnetic planar (push-pull).

It is, though this is unlikely to be the final midrange since these drivers remain hard to get after the demise of BG.

What is the small monitor in the upper left of the picture? Sorry, I don’t recognize it.

I have some DIY speakers a friend designed and built for my home theater, all of which have BG tweeters which I believe he sourced from Parts-Express about a year before BG closed.

Remarkable tweeters.

Top secret project

Actually not so secret - we’re exploring possibilities of making a Sprout-style speaker. Something that sounds phenomenal while integrating beautifully into a modern home. Still a ways out from being finished, though.

When I look at that Sprout speaker, I like the look of the front baffle!

Has the midbass coupler and subwoofer been installed yet? :grinning:

Right now midbass, mid, and tweeter are installed. Woofer is hanging out with the engineering team while they continue work on the servo controller. Here’s how things currently stands.

I like the planar driver. I bet it sounds great. Seems it would be difficult to get that driver to blend with the other drivers though?

I bet they have the blend nailed down before they ship any :grinning:

Are the AN2 series going to be a line source speaker with multiple ribbon tweeters and midrange drivers along with dual woofers? This is my hope and wish.

It’s good we didn’t have the problems here … ready for several speakers …

“and then one day, just fantasizing, I aimed it at her and pressed AUDIO MUTE…”
