Very interesting, thanks and yes, I’m sure the DS is a different animal than the Gold DAC regardless of measurements and I also still honor the original Mk I for what it was at the time. The always equal FR of extremely differently sounding DAC’s (in FR) can just be ignored anyway, wherever the au…

Well, I’m glad that you’re happy with your GCD. While much more expensive as a combination, these are very different animals from a GCD and not directly comparable really. We’re talking about nearly 40-50 dB (~4-5 orders of magnitude) improvement in noise and distortion and vastly different sonic …

Fair enough. I know it’s truly a next-gen product and I really hope you sell a ton!!! From a segmentation standpoint, since there’s no direct replacement for the SGCD, can I presume the next-gen Strata Paul mentioned in his recent Ask Paul video is the direct replacement in the line for that prici…

I get the incredible improvement in noise reduction, distortion, etc., etc., and the accompanying improvement in sonics. But to replace my $2000 GCD will take $8000.

I know we will make some less expensive components to lower the bar to entry into the line. It’s tough right now with our local and in-house US manufacturing and inflation where it is. A CGD would no longer be a $2000 product based on current material pricing and so we’re looking at some smart outs…

Sorry if this has already been covered, but am I seeing correctly that the Gold Pre does not have headphone out?

Correct. Basically, if you have good headphones, to use them to their full potential you need an external headphone amplifier. As I guess, this preamplifier is of a very high standard, so it is intended to be aimed at a different market segment. Therefore, the built-in headphone amplifier was omitte…

I am beta testing the SG Preamp, placing it in the chain between a DS Sr. MK1 and a pair of M700 monoblocks. I’ve had it about 2 weeks, so it’s getting broken in and the SQ is definitely improved over connecting the DSD directly to the Monoblocks. One thing is that it has eliminated the noise le…

Placed my order for the pair of Golds, looking forward to comparing the pre to the BHK pre, I always have regretted selling my DAC Jr, I bought a Modwright modded Pioneer LX500 SACD player at the time I felt it was as good or better, mainly in the way that “I think I like tube outputs better”, I hav…

Anybody listen to the DAC yet? I am wondering what the best cd transport would be for this new DAC?
