Pretty interesting interview with Mark Levinson about his Herz C-Wave technology, and how it improves PCM, and reduces stress levels in the body.
He also mentioned that DSD also produces the same physiological response in the body.
As someone who purchased the very first CD player to hit the market, the Sony CD 101, and foolishly sold his turntable, and regretted it soon afterwards and for many years to come, I can say CD’s are far from perfect sound forever. It wasn’t until i purchased PS Audio’s DSD MkI, that I felt like I was finally listening to music that sounded analog like.
Interesting technology. Less is more.
Has the ability to remaster individual songs.
If I had a quarter of a mill to splurge, this would be the system I’d own.
Although this system is out of my reach, I’m totally fascinated by its simplicity and awe inspiring sound.
No huge, heavy, and heat radiating audio jewelry mental boxes sitting on massive vibration draining racks. No super duper expensive cabling or AC filtering. Definitely not a system to awe your audiophile buddies with upon first glance, yet I have a feeling this system is revolutionary in every sense.
Paul answered my Ask Paul question about phono preamps (Thank you, Paul!).
But I am still trying to wrap my head around this.
Why can a built-in phono preamp in a turntable, stereo amp or receiver, considered to be not as good as a separate unit? Why would someone spend relatively high prices for “just a phono preamp” when they are already included in so many audio components?
Other than the application of the RIAA curve, is it simply a matter of the parts - the tolerance of the components, and the combination, thereof, as Paul mentioned in the video?
Is it just a matter of preference and taste?
Just to give you an idea of how large some of the space debris floating around really is.
This clip was taken by a prototype craft that will essentially shepherd the larger debris into the atmosphere to burn up upon rentry.
Latest Veritasium is excellent and not strictly “music” but human interaction with and perception of sound.
Thanks. That is excellent.
Seeing this quite a while after it was posted.
I’ve done submarine docking and undocking in floating and land based dry docks a number of times. It never ceases to be an amazing event. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, there seem to be a constant supply of home theater videos available but a pal sent me this one and it’s pretty remarkable.
Of special note is the cable management design. Wow.
Is there an OP amp in the DSD DACs?
If so it sounds like this OP amp Danny is talking about would be worth upgrading to.
In the Sr, not that this could help.
In the Jr, yes. Not sure these are drop in replacements though.
