Hi @Paul. I’m curious: what does a P20 (or P15 or P12) do when an outlet see a Neutral to Ground short? Is there any internal voltage shunting, or does either the fuse pop or the internal circuit breaker trip?
@Paul, you out there?
I suggest an email to paul@psaudio.com
…uhh…unless I’m sadly mistaken, neutral and earth are CONNECTED together at the metering box.. Maybe the PSA regenerators separate them intentionally?
You are correct, but that is the only point where they are to be connected.
Hi Tony. I am traveling in Europe on holiday so am only allowed a few minutes on email each morning under threat of something horrible if I violate that.
The neutral cannot have a short to ground in many cases because, as in Europe, the “neutral” isn’t neutral at all (think balanced power). In the States, it is. The P20 runs on both balanced and unbalanced power. I don’t believe there is any mechanism inside that pops a breaker or blows a fuse if it is miswired.
Thanks Paul (and apologies for the intrusion on your vacation. I guess a GFCI breaker would trip if there was any load in a circumstance like that.
