Perfect Vinyl Forever - A comparison Test Miles Davis Kind of Blue UHQR

I sent a batch of records to PVF and was very pleased with the result. I sent a couple of rather noisy records just to see if there might be a magical transformation (there wasn’t) but they still sounded better. Filling the box is a whole lot easier than messing with my DIY ultrasonic and much quieter. I intend to send a box off every few months until those records with music worth getting cleaned are clean. It will cost more than buying a Degritter, going on a cleaning spree and then selling it, but that sounds like work

With a library of 10,000 LPs prioritization and a hybrid approach will be mandatory. But from what I heard, it is a worthwhile effort applying the PVF method to select recordings. I’d say from what we heard the method should be considered mandatory for the pricey MoFi UHQR, Analog Production/Acoustic Sounds, and BlueNote Tone Poet/Music Matters releases.

I got my batch of 16 albums back from Perfect Vinyl.

  1. Four of the sixteen that I sent for their “Archival Process” are duplicates, so I had Test and Control records. All of the Test records sound substantially better than the Controls which weren’t cleaned by them.
  2. My girlfriend yelled from in the shower “hey wudjuh change? It sounds so much more airy!”
    Sorry, I had to… :grinning:
  3. The process does not always leave a silent background, which if the noise is in the plastic, would not be a reasonable expectation.
  4. The process is efficient and well organized.
Not sure I’ll go again but I’m a curious fellow.

Glad you are happy with it. I’m due to pick-up my first batch and submit a second batch. Being taht they are somewhat local it is easier for me. Great line BTW:

She’s an alien. She’s right now measuring the changes.

PS—I sent the not so great sounding version of my Kind OF Blue UHQR, kept the good one as Control and sure enough, the PVF one sounds better than the Control. Very interesting and worthwhile.

My experience as well. While a bit pricey and somewhat inconvenient I find it to be worthy overall for those special records. For those that have a small collection, it is a solid option in comparison to DIY cleaning. By he time one purchases a Degritter a 400 LP collection could get the full PVF treatment. I need to add I am not affiliated with PVF or Ultra Fidelis, I just stumbled on to something I’d like to share with the community.

L.O.L.!!

Wow. This morning I’m listening to one of my duplicates that got the PVF treatment, Art Blakey “First Flight to Tokyo”. The sound, especially of the live recorded drum solos is significantly better. Much better than just what my Degritter can do. I imagine that it must be the washing away of the release agent.

It is as if “what ever” is in the crevices, nooks and crannies of our vinyl is removed by the PVF process. Now you got me on the hunt for that LP to take in for the PVF Archival 3 process. I am most happy to hear that your are enjoying the results.

Super interesting. I have a Loricraft I haven’t used in many years after cleaning much of my collection. Any suggestions for what new fluids might be on the market I could try (without a 4 step process?) I was using AUdio Intelligent.
