I just got a PMG DAC 512 for a 30 day trial period. Can you switch the DAC filters using the remote while music is playing? How much of a difference do the filters make to the sound?
Yes you can. And very little difference. Best for me was F1 which is the default.
I only use remote to change filters. I stayed with F3 for a few days, and music sounded a bit uninvolving. I switched back to F1 and was surprised how much better it sounded. Holographic imaging was better, and even vocal sounded more “real” than before.
I did not like F2 when I first switched into it, and I have not gone back to it since.
Guys, Thanks!
for me i was chuffling between F2 and F3 to tame the highs. After some other setup tweaks and mainly after putting the Gaia Isoacoustics under my speakers the F1 sounded the best with no need for Filter correction. The fault was in my setup.
