It’s not the same as the AirLens, in fact it’s an advanced version that we just finished and have been working on for quite some time.
One of the features I miss from the old MK1 + Bridge2 DAC that was lost with the MK2 + Airlens DAC is the ability for ROON to control the volume of the DAC. This was something I used a lot. While I prefer the sound of the current combo, I hope we can have both in the new PGM DAC, especially since the PGM has the sooper dooper new volume control.
The new again again is supposed to have a very what I can call analog like vol control. I am sure someone from PSA can explain better. since the DAC / Streamer are combined, I am “assuming” that function will return if you use as the preamp.
Yup. The AirLens will now pass Roon commands to the volume control of the DAC and so too will the PMG signature’s built in DAC.
Thanks Paul. This makes me very happy.
@Paul I own the PW SACD Transport and like it very much. Is there a difference beyond the chassis that would make it worth considering a trade in for the new PMG Transport? Are there substantial design differences to consider? Thanks in advance.
That’s a tough one. The new PMG is noticeably better sounding but not by as much as, say, the DAC or preamp. Think Grand Canyon on those two, and a noticeably deep valley for the transport. Not sure that helps.
wish PSA offered First Responder discounts… wish I couls use my HSA too music helps with PTSD, right?
FWIW, Innuos has been known to…
good news that, love my zen mk3 but eventually will upgrade
