PMG taking over

Fun.
Spotify pays the least amount to the musicians. It is as close to nothing as they can get. Plus, they do tricks to pay even less. I think if a person had any respect for the artists they would be aware of this and not use Spotify. It is my choice to not use them.

(I am probably hard hearted as well)(Just not for artists)

I genuinely appreciate your reasoning and learned something in the process. I have never used Spotify so the company’s ethics hadn’t been on my radar. I will certainly steer clear from them but intend to refrain from judging others who might make different choices than my own.

Those who enjoy folk/Americana music should check out this video of the excellent group Windborne performing their song ā€œ.4 cents a playā€ which addresses the issue of compensation for artists.

Rarely do I listen to entire track. Does this mean artists get nothing?

Various major artists have reported they can’t buy a cup of coffee with what they get paid each month from Spotify.

From what I was made to understand, PS is offering a 3000.00 trade-in for my DSD dac Mk1 senior towards the purchase of their 9000.00 PMG Signature 512 DAC.
Are you all taking advantage of this.
I am hoping to.

A lot of us are watching for that info - so far there been nothing public AFAK. Would you like to share your source?

There are a few pushing that rumor. I assume that the source would prefer to remain anonymous (especially if it is true).

Most of us with MKII are waiting for what that amount will be, I am guessing MKI will be less.

Yes, a customer service gentleman at PS Audio who told me this today.

I am not waiting to take advantage of this. When the Mk II and PWT came out I had some coin to spend. Not this time around.

I’m very happy with the Mk II and PWT fortunately! Will need to be unfazed as I read what I am sure will be glorious reviews of the new DAC.

Though if you need a streamer also…that might change things with both in one box.

Well I have never had a streamer and honestly have never wanted one. I have over 30,000 discs of various formats, that’s part of the reason I’m poor and I’m dedicated to them. So, I’m good.

Part of me is the same way. I finally have the RS130 paired with MKII with the APS transformers. Very happy. But if the trade in is good enough, I probably will jump and sell what I have to stay current. I have 30 days to see if its as good. The other possibility with the PGM is moving it up front with amps and getting new behind AT Screen and 100% decoupling the HT From 2 ch. The pre just acts as passthrough so it sort of is, but this would let me do anything else separately. But again only if the trade in is good enough. $3000, nope not going to happen.

I was the same way for the longest time. Then I borrowed a MU2 from @straightwire and my non-streaming days were over. I am now finding music I never would have found before.

That’s great. I have no problem finding new music in my own way–and I like to have music on hand, own it. And I don’t NEED to find new music! No streamer for me, not even a bit of curiosity . . . no dollars anyway. I really can’t hang with you big dogs; my audio component spending days are gone for good. Small pension and social security to manage as best as I can is what I’m left.

With 30,000 CDs I bet most of us would fail to remember something, making it a discovery of new music.

Well to be honest my memory has always been my strongest ā€œsuitā€ and I don’t forget much (even though there is much I need to forget).

The most often professed advantage of streaming is ā€œfinding new music.ā€ I never had a problem finding new music, in fact if you ask my wife she’d say my problem is I do find new music and thirst for more. I don’t need to stream for that and streaming just does not hold an allure for me. I’m glad it suits so many others.

I know much of your system and you are not suffering with what you’ve put together!

You are correct–I am definitely not suffering. I have the best system I’ve ever had, and I have really not heard a better system for my tastes and needs.

I feel I have my system downstream from sources that I want and need. One can always improve sources. . . I’d love to have the next fantastic PS Audio DAC. . . but even if I could afford it, I’d then be bummed that my tranpsort doesn’t match it as my transport and DAC combo do now. And if I could afford the DAC, I couldn’t afford the new matching transport. I’m fine with hanging with what I have.

My amp and the ZBIT and ZROCK3 components and my speakers are the cat’s meow imo. I’m more than good. I never did like merry-go-rounds.
