Fun.
Spotify pays the least amount to the musicians. It is as close to nothing as they can get. Plus, they do tricks to pay even less. I think if a person had any respect for the artists they would be aware of this and not use Spotify. It is my choice to not use them.
(I am probably hard hearted as well)(Just not for artists)
I genuinely appreciate your reasoning and learned something in the process. I have never used Spotify so the companyās ethics hadnāt been on my radar. I will certainly steer clear from them but intend to refrain from judging others who might make different choices than my own.
Those who enjoy folk/Americana music should check out this video of the excellent group Windborne performing their song ā.4 cents a playā which addresses the issue of compensation for artists.
From what I was made to understand, PS is offering a 3000.00 trade-in for my DSD dac Mk1 senior towards the purchase of their 9000.00 PMG Signature 512 DAC.
Are you all taking advantage of this.
I am hoping to.
Well I have never had a streamer and honestly have never wanted one. I have over 30,000 discs of various formats, thatās part of the reason Iām poor and Iām dedicated to them. So, Iām good.
Part of me is the same way. I finally have the RS130 paired with MKII with the APS transformers. Very happy. But if the trade in is good enough, I probably will jump and sell what I have to stay current. I have 30 days to see if its as good. The other possibility with the PGM is moving it up front with amps and getting new behind AT Screen and 100% decoupling the HT From 2 ch. The pre just acts as passthrough so it sort of is, but this would let me do anything else separately. But again only if the trade in is good enough. $3000, nope not going to happen.
I was the same way for the longest time. Then I borrowed a MU2 from @straightwire and my non-streaming days were over. I am now finding music I never would have found before.
Thatās great. I have no problem finding new music in my own wayāand I like to have music on hand, own it. And I donāt NEED to find new music! No streamer for me, not even a bit of curiosity . . . no dollars anyway. I really canāt hang with you big dogs; my audio component spending days are gone for good. Small pension and social security to manage as best as I can is what Iām left.
Well to be honest my memory has always been my strongest āsuitā and I donāt forget much (even though there is much I need to forget).
The most often professed advantage of streaming is āfinding new music.ā I never had a problem finding new music, in fact if you ask my wife sheād say my problem is I do find new music and thirst for more. I donāt need to stream for that and streaming just does not hold an allure for me. Iām glad it suits so many others.
You are correctāI am definitely not suffering. I have the best system Iāve ever had, and I have really not heard a better system for my tastes and needs.
I feel I have my system downstream from sources that I want and need. One can always improve sources. . . Iād love to have the next fantastic PS Audio DAC. . . but even if I could afford it, Iād then be bummed that my tranpsort doesnāt match it as my transport and DAC combo do now. And if I could afford the DAC, I couldnāt afford the new matching transport. Iām fine with hanging with what I have.
My amp and the ZBIT and ZROCK3 components and my speakers are the catās meow imo. Iām more than good. I never did like merry-go-rounds.
