They now have a white version…which I think my Aesthetic committee would prefer. With that said the 2 that I have are not visible in my corners.
They work on rear and side walls too. You will need a pair of white ones there ![]()
Are you now an official distributor for the PSI?
So is it the case that if I want something to clean up the low end, a PSI 214 is preferable to the SR Blackbox?
Below 150Hz I found the Black Box did nothing in my room, a single C214 cleaned up the 30-35Hz mud enough to make my room’s listening chair area better.
I may add a second C214 once I get some other upgrades done, but for now the one is working effectively enough that I’m not fixated on the low end humidity in the room.
The Black Box improved the sound even more, once the LF standing waves were reduced, so I kept both.
Thanks for the answer and the next stupid idea that comes to mind here in the forum. ![]()
This is a shout-out to those who may have interest in the PSI C214 digital bass trap. I have established direct access to PSI products via the US distributor.
Several have come on board and orders will be generated and processed soon. Please PM me if interested and want details.
I have been even more satisfied with the unit’s performance. I will be getting a second one for my new room. This room’s bad bass boom has been greatly reduced by the C214. More so than with large GIK traps and SR Black box. Additionally, the unit improves image stability and mids and highs have less edge.
I’ve been experimenting with placement and it sounds even better about a foot off the floor. I have a low ceiling (7’6”) and the ceiling soffit area bass resonates. I built a GIK clone for the area (see photo) and it helped some but not as much as the C214. And, the Asthetics Committee approves!
I have had a second PSI C214 bass absorber in my system for about 10 days. Same benefits as before…a reduction in nasty standing LF waves that produce tighter bass and increased resolution in higher frequencies.
This effect is not as dramatic as the first one, but take any of the two out from the handy app and you want it back. I’m still adjusting output of the two but I’m glad I got the second one.
Pictured below are their locations. They seem a tad better off the floor but it could be my imagination as I like the look better.
For those with SR Black Boxes, I still like mine in the system. They are complimentary and help in different areas.
The C214’s have tamed 90% of my bad vibes.
I am an authorized re-seller of PSI products and can offer them at favorable prices. Please PM me for details.
Your room is coming together nicely, and happy to learn of your success in taming bass issues. Bravo!
I see they meet with approval!
Connie is looking great!
Thinking the same. The C214’s are built like a tank and should be rabbit proof.
The stock power cords are easy to replace. I covered them in two layers of thick plastic. But she may shred that.
You may need some more pvc pipe.
I should have bought some today!
Holy Schitte! I missed these pictures earlier! That seems Noice!!
Thanks to Al keeping my old black C214s I now have the white version that is more pleasing to the fiance. Note the black absorber in front of the one c214 eliminates a feedback loop between the microphone in the C214 and the stereo rack right next to it. I think you can crank up the level used on the c214 with less feedback to no feedback issues with a properly configured absorber field.
Those are some interesting locations for the C214’s
The black absorption panel kind of undoes the high (future) WAF, no?

Nice. White is the new black.
I never had any mic feedback issues with the C214’s and they are close to the speakers. But, I don’t have your ton of subs either.
