Baaacccccccch!

I have found you can reduce or eliminate the feedback noise by placing a sound absorbing panel material between the PSI bass trap and any reflective surface that is near the trap. The high pitch noises are created by a feedback loop near the device.

So put sound absorbing panels in the way of the mics that detect the bass.

Hmmmmm.

That seems like wrap the $599 fuse in tinfoil before inserting it.

That makes sense. I have several reflective surfaces within a 30” radius in front of both C214s. The good news is they work well at +3db.

Thanks for sharing. Can you comment more on your experience with 2 C214s vs just one?

I believe the sounds waves that are causing the screeching are mid and high frequency waves that can be absorbed by a curtain or panel in or near the device. I had to use this method because my fiances exercise equipment ended up near one of the bass traps. The curtain or panel isn’t really doing anything to the bass waves.

I’ll start with a pic, it will make things easier to explain, my room has an 18’ ceiling, is 14’ wide and 15’ deep:

Doing a bass boom crawl and walk reveals the largest boom area is center/front wall near the floor (right behind my current equipment rack pictured). Using a single C214 with my old setup (not pictured) allowed me to place a single C214 on the center axis in front of the racks, this worked well enough to consider it a victory over the room induced boominess.

When I upgraded to my current kit, placing a single C214 on the center axis became much more difficult so I moved it to the right side of the rack. This caused a slight imbalance of the sound stage, there were times when the right speaker became more apparent as the stage seemed to have a small gap just inside the right speaker. At least the single C214 was still making the difference between tolerable and intolerable bass mud in my listening chair (not the whole room, if I stood up the bass boom was more apparent).

The second C214 balanced out the sound stage nicely and sped up the bass decay providing better timing with more attack/punch clarity. Other benefits of having the second C214 includes a little wider sweet-spot and more visual symmetry.

In American football terms, the first C214 got me to the redzone while the second one got me a touchdown.

Yup, the more-the-better with the C214’s but a single one goes a long way.

Thanks for your explanation and congrats for your system!

Hi, what’s the current price for the AVAA C214?

See PM.

Hi @straightwire could you PM me to discuss getting a C214 (or two)? (I am a newbie and can’t PM for some reason). Thanks!

Good review here:

Terrible format for reading (at least as visible c/o Safari on my iMac), but it gets good marks from the reviewer.

FYI/FWIW.

The review checks all the boxes that I, and many of my colleagues, have experienced. A good solid product that tames that elephant in every room.
PSI will be at Axpona again this year. I will be helping at their booth and hope those who attend can stop by.

Nice review - it may be time to order another one.

I am thinking about going this year. It would be my first “show” experience.

Cheers
