@wijber - see, that search is dangerous because now I will be downloading a lot of content… however, after figuring out the search is the ticket… thanks again!
Just looked at Roon w/ Qobuz. Genres button is only one deep. Select jazz and only get about 20 pages with 1/2 page of smooth jazz at best. I know they have the content.
Roon organizes all 5000 albums in my local drive such that there are 20+ jazz genres. Not Qobuz. One button in Taste of Qobuz and 1% of what the content is in Qobuz
@wijber - Yeah - not a fan of Qobuz interface, Tidal is much better. Now that I found how to discover new content for downloading, I’m at least liking it better. I wish they would develop a better category (deeper w/ sub categories) for streaming. I find Tidal the same SQ at CD level and similar library content when searching. However, Qobuz is better hi res and the download store “game changer”. I hope their CS doesn’t suck like Tidal. We’ll see this week. All in all, feeling the Qobuz got it going on…
I love getting used CDs for $3.50 (ave) and swapping new jewel case for $0.25. The DMP is now sounding great and ripping to N+ and streaming is sounding amazing w/ new Farad Super3 for N+ power.
So many options… now I am going to get into the downloads and see how much I can save doing that, understanding a CD for $3.75 and I rip it myself (uncompressed flac).
First off I want to compare CD ripped to download 48/24, then 96/24, then 192/24. Then DMP verses the hi res downloads. Man the DMP is amazing redbook SQ. This will be fun.
Just an FYI, Qobuz was having some server issues yesterday. I was playing an album, paused it, and came back about 30 minutes later and the remaining tracks were suddenly unavailable. They resolved the issue and Qobuz is currently playing fine. Not sure this was the problem you experienced but it could possibly be the cause.
The issue about Qobuz not offering a veteran’s discount may be larger than Qobuz recognizes.
Tidal uses the Id.me veteran registration service for the veteran to get DD214 verification and a nice monthly discount.
It is tedious for the veteran to get Id.me approval, but once done it is seamless for the company offering the discount. In other words, virtually no manpower to give the veteran discount at the company.
I personally use the discount as a proud veteran and an audiophile, and appreciate and use companies that offer it. Including Tidal.
I only shopped Lowes for a long time because of the veteran program and see that Home Depot has now become a vet discount store. That will change my buying habits toward Home Depot.
Maybe a slight change in the Quobuz business plan would add enough new revenue to enable a stronger customer service program for their users in general.
