Sorry - again, another situation where I don’t want to make any across-the-board pronouncements. USB and DSD - yes, long history, as the former tends to handle the majority of the latter, while other digital connections may or may not (such as standard optical having been limited to 24/96 for a long time).
I’m just looking for the best sound quality. Whether it be USB directly into directstream, AES, or usb via matrix with I2S. I already have a Matrix so that wouldn’t be an issue.
I think the Farad steps things up in ways I have not yet experienced. I have been dragging my feet and being pouty about yet another power supply. I should just get over myself and get it done.
I had the G1 and loved it because it simplified my set up and I did use it wirelessly. Have no experience with the G2. I sold the G1 only because my MBL N31 has a Roon Card isolated so well that I didn’t need the G1. If you buy a G1 used, it is unlikely you will lose more than 10% of its value on resale. I sold mine for the same price I paid for it after using it for 1.5 years.
“Again, the Matrix is Not Necessary. It is a potentially fruitful tweakfest to pursue AFTER you have your Streamer and DAC sorted.”
I am not a Martix devotee, but it has provided me soo much joy watching the efforts of the Matrix tribe. You really haven’t lived a full audiophile life, until you have @aangen show up to your house with a box full of usb cables, power cables, power supplies, and all sort of other doo dads to simply improve your connection to your DSD dac via a Matrix.
If @aangen wants to show up at my door with a box of USB cables, power cables, power supplies, and all sorts of doo dads he is more then welcome here! I’m only 40 minutes from his Gryphon dealer!
