It may simply be a quirk of gain staging, excetera. I have learned however to experiment and not make assumptions as to what will sound the best.

I havenāt read the whole thread yet, but Ted (I also havenāt figured out how to tag), I tried to use the toslink input tonight from an Audioquest Beetle, and the lock light stays red. What might I be doing wrong?

If you have never used the TOSLink before, the first time or two that you use it itās pretty tight. You may not have pressed it in until it āclicksā. The cable connector has a shoulder that should be flush against the TOSLink socket on the DS.
