I’m having difficulty downloading Room EQ Wizard.
I have followed the guidelines offered by GIK Acoustics, which include signing on to the Home Theater Forum. The REW site shows the download area, and the MAC OS section for use with my IPhone/IPad. It downloads momentarily and shows a file created, but will not open.
Any insight is appreciated.
If I understand you correctly, you are trying to install REW on an iPhone/iPad. As far as I know REW does not work with iOS, the Apple version only works with a mac computer. I use an iPad most of the time, but had to get a windows laptop a few years back just to use REW.
What are you going to do with REW? If you are going to create a convolution filter, I know REW is free, but I ended up paying for a simpler software called Focus Fidelity.
It works great for room correction. As you probably are aware any big null is not fixable by any Room Correction software. Something in room has to change (ie seat, speakers etc…)
If all you want to do is quick room test, REW is great for that. once you have set up you can test, move your seat, do another sweep test. Rinse and repeat until speaker and seat positions are set.
And yes REW should work on Mac
Not sure why you had to sign into Home Theater Forum. is that a GIK thing?
Yes, that’s a GIK thing I guess. REW does not download to an IPad, but I was able to do it on my Windows PC.
The graphs confirm I have bass buildup throughout the room. Yes, speaker and chair repositioning helps a little, but the room needs major low frequency absorption. My first approach is to build traps that reach below 50 hertz and maybe stiffen the rear wall with 5/8” drywall.
Active devices, without DSP, like the PSI Audio AVAA C214 are also in consideration. I may also borrow Al’s BAACH ORC sometime. But, suffice to say… I’m working the room first.
