Room resonances

Just discovered how a piece of workout equipment in my listening room was causing unpleasant high frequency distortions which I previously contributed to poor recordings.
The functional trainer I have setup in my listening room has two hollow metal vertical tubes that allow for adjusting workout positions.
While pausing a CD I was playing at high volumes I heard a high pitched ringing that lasted for a millisecond. It was loud and annoying, and I have to assume was constantly ringing while playing music. I placed some padded clamps on both of them and now when I tap on them the ringing is gone, which also cleaned up the high frequency distortions I was previously hearing while playing certain recordings. Cheapest tweak so far.

acoustic musical instruments are another no-no really (I do have a couple of guitars in this room), though maybe less dissonant than the exercise equipment
