Sprout with Phono Stage

Hi all. Just picked up an Avid Pellar phono stage to use with my Sprout. Running from the turntable (high output MC) to the Avid and then up to the Sprout Vinyl inputs results in a horrible ground hum type racket. Does the phono stage need to go into the 3.5mm analog input???

I tried running straight from the table to the vinyl input and got music albeit very low output.

Thanks for any help

Paul

Got it. Sure nuf does need to go into the analog input. Two RCA’s to a 3.5mm mini. Might be going to the Stellar setup sooner than I thought…

Hi ppridday,

Thanks for reaching out to us about this and sorry to hear that you are having this trouble.

The Sprout has a dedicated phono input designed for a standard Moving Magnet cartridge.
Your high output Moving Coil cartridge may have too much gain for the Sprout.
If possible try a Moving Magnet cartridge.

As well there is a ground nut on the Sprout’s chassis.
Make sure that the turn table is grounded to the Sprout.
This will hopefully address the loud hum you are hearing.

If you continue to have trouble please reach out to us at service@psaudio.com or call 1 (800) PSAUDIO
We’ll be happy to assist.
Thanks ,

Got it sorted out Jeremy. Had to come out of the phono pre with an RCA to 3.5mm mini jack into the analog input. Works like a charm.

Thanks for the quick reply.
